Hello from Turkey,

Game Park anounced a new firmware will be available very soon. Fixing some of the major problems also adding some extra functions such as LCD Screen Brightness adjustment by the user. New firmware will enable GP2x to give TV-Output of 720x480.

Have a nice day!

I just wanted to read something official that's all. I guess I need to learn Korean <_<

The best news from my perspective is that it promises the removal of the spontaneous bricking bug that some of us have encountered.

From the German:

"Ausserdem wird die Update-Methode geändert, da es mit der bisherigen Probleme gab (ach)"

English translation from google:

"In addition the update method is changed, since it gave with the past problems (oh sign)"

yes the updates are said to be run from the utility menu instead directly when booting up. You know there are MANY SD cards that wheren't able to update the firmware in the first place while working perfectly in the GPH Linux...

That is superb news! Neither of my cards work for updating the firmware :(

Of course, you do know that you'll have to update the firmware to get this functionality. At least, I think that's the case.

Got my gp2x wee!, but I dare not turn it on :p gonna have to wait for this firmware and put it on the sd card then boot with that and with the gp2x plugged into ac :) taking no chances, would hate to send it back because of bricking.
So any word on when it's coming out?

I'd use it now, you may find your SD card isn't compatible with GPH's reflasher, and so it either ignores it completely, or blanks your nand (but then again, it can do that with a completely empty SD card too)

Go for a gamble I'd say, if it bricks, it bricks, at least you had some fun :)

Methinks you're being a little too over-the-top if you dont want to turn it on!

I don't know if it would make a difference but you could also boot without having the SD card in the unit.

I booted :p couldn't keep my dirty prying fingers away from it, besides had some code I wished to test on it...It didn't brick :p not so scared now ;) atm trying to get snes, nes and uqm on the sd
