SMC Reader Problems

Hi All,

Got my GP32 a week ago and I am very happy with it. I decided to get adventurous and buy a cheap SMC reader/writer from E-Bay. It's made by Power Quotient.

The problem comes in that it won't read GP32 formatted cards. It sees them fine when they are new but just asks you to insert a disk into Drive F: when I insert a formatted one.

Does anybody know of a way round this or recommend a good reader/writer that does work. I have USB 2 but the cheaper the better!! :D

Many Thanks

mine works perfect i dont know what it is its a 5 in 1 reader with Model # KU5in1 hope that helps. Its blue and silver 1/2 and 1/2

Hey I did exactly the same - It cannot read my formatted GP32 smcs - The fuckerS! am pissed cause thats exactly the reason I bought it for!!!

There must be a way of getting this to work with the Smart media reader\writer

Maybe it doesnt have fat12 drivers
It certainly seems that way - I've checked the PQI website but they make no mention of Fat 12. Therefore, can anybody suggest a good reader/writer?

Goto www.DriverGuide.com It has LOTS of drivers to things for download, and there are even some custom made/patched drivers that can do more things (of course there is always the risk of killing your hardware/comp ;) )

Thanks for the advice but no luck. Somebody must have a working one they can recommend. Please!!! :)

Multiformat readers/writers that also support SMC are cheap and work well. I've got myself a 6 in 1 reader by Sweex. This thing cost around 27 euro's.
