I just found about the GP2X and thought it was awesome. I already have a PSP, but it is version 2.60(NO hombrew version :( ) I was looking into this and found that it takes 2 AA baterries. That kind of sucks, because if I plan to play it a lot, which i do I dont want to keep rebuying batteries. Post your opinions and answer the poll.

Uhh.

How 'bout just buying like 4 rechargables?

Yeah, I don't want to sound redundant, but alkaline batteries are apparently shit for the GP2X anyway, so drop a few bucks on some 2500mAh rechargeables anyway and you'll be happier than a pig in shit. :)

You also won't have to keep buying batteries.

I bought 8 2500mah energizer and an 8 hour charger at Sam's club for $20 US

I have no problem, they last a few hours, and are MUCH cheaper than PSP batteries.

I got 8 2500mah AA and 4 850mah AAA batteries with the 8 hour charger at Sam's Club for $25 US. They didn't have the pack with just AA's, but I can use those AAA's and being that they die quicker and are more expensive it is nice to have them.

I really hope not. AA batteries will probably be along for at least a few decades more so even in 20 years you will be able to play on your GP2X while a specific rechargable pack would disappear from the market as soon as it isn't profitable for the company to sell it.

Is the ignorance about rechargeable batteries common in some places or what? It's like some people never heard of rechargeable batteries and they just go quiet when you mention the possibility.
Everyone here uses it (Sweden). It just seems incredible that some people can be so ignorant about it...

I personally wouldn't mind someone finding a solution to get longer battery life, sure rechargables are great, but a longer lasting solution would be nice. If I remember right someone put something together for the GP32 that looked cool, it was basically a battery pack containing C/D cells connected to the DC slot. I think it would be good if someone could document a solution like this for the GP2x (it's the same I know, but I can't find the old thing).

That might sound nice, but at 2500mah these batteries have more juice than any D cell battery I have ever met, the rechargeable D cells seem to be AA in a bigger shell, aka crap.

You *could* put 4 2500mah AA in a pack and get a 5000mah(aka 5 amp) pack, but why bother if it already gets 4-5 hours at full speed from just two?

I have been carrying a couple extra AAs in my pocket the past coupla weeks and I don't even notice them.

I've been able to fit an extra pair in the carrying case. I put them in the mesh area, but one has to be careful because they slide out of there easily when the case is open.

there are 10000+ mah d cells.
like this gp 9000mah one

this one is even more sexy, no idear what size that one is, but 13000mah woohoo :)

Sweet, I am totally wrong, but I still wouldn't carry around something so big and heavy just to run my GP2X for 24 hours straight, talk about no point.
