hello again people.

this topic is simply place to keep your "im not happy" comments in OR "Im so pleased!" coments too.

The thing is, so many people moan about the console on here in posts which are made to be constructive.

So if you see anyone post negative talk in your topic rederect them to here!

also, please leave any comments you have about the gp2x, the whole gp2x so far. or if you are planning to get one before christmas or just after, hopefully these coments will tell you if you really want one or not.

I'm happy as long as Yaoi stays legal and I can get my portable anime fix without having to encode into MP4...

My only problem with things with the GP2X right now, is something to do with my cardreader. *laugh* Something inside my USB 2.0 cardreader is broken, and no matter which way the LOCK tab on my SD is switched to, it considers the card write protected. So I can't write anything to the card anymore.

I'm thrilled about the GP2X still and I've done very little with it. I've even had 0 success getting it to be seen by Windows XP in either the USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 ports in either Windows ME or Windows XP. (I run a dual boot system for maximum compatibility.)

The movie I encoded for it used DivX and MP3 sound codecs, and didn't work, for some reason. The anime I encoded straight from DVD to DivX 4 worked but the sound sped up in places, so I got rid of that one.

I'm happy with my GP2X, I've left the orginal firmare without upgrading as version 1.01 seems to be causing more problems than its fixing. I'll wait for a later release.

The SNES emu is great, even so early on, and I was amazed to see it running Star Fox, although its not fast enough to be truly playable.

I am very happy with the gp2x. Pulstar on the Neo GeoCD emulator is running quite smoothly and this alone is enough to make me happy.

The design of the device and of the menu icons is just great. Those green and orange screens and the little joystick and settings icons are very nice.

and the thing with the firmware upgrades makes the whole gp2x experience even more interesting. I am looking forward to flash all the forthcoming updates.

Thank you gamepark holdings for this nice little gadget

Thread almost two hours old, and no sign of a DaveC post. Do you think he is OK? ;)

very happy

but how the hell do I take the protective layer off the lcd... friggin thing is driving me nuts... tried sticky tape on the tab it didn't work... Do I have to dissasemble the gp2x to remove it??? the edge of the protective layer edges seem to be under the frame of the gp2x....

very happy... very happy... very happy....

/me rocks back and forth and finally ends up in the fetal position on the floor.

very happy... very happy... very happy....

I am not happy, because for me the joystick ruins the gaming part of the GP2X. :-(
And GPH should be ashamed of releasing this device with such an unfinished firmware. Especially the fact that it's using both processors on maximum speed and the TV Out at all time.
Thankfully, the homebrew developers will take care of this sooner or later.

NO!

I AM NOT HAPPY AT ALL!

My order was posted 7 days ago and it still hasn't arrived. Some Italian* postman somewhere is probably having a hell of a time trying to figure out if it's sellable...

On the other hand, if it does eventually turn up I'm sure that I'll have a great time with it.

GRRRRRR... Bloody Poste Italiane.

* I live in Italy, I'm not implying that italian posties run around the world stealing much-wanted gadgets.

Only seven days? Mine took ten days.

But to stay on topic, yes I am happy. It has revitalized my enjoyment in programming since the games industry has done everything it can to kill any enjoyment left in programming.

In general, on scale from :( :( :( to :) :) :), I am :).

This breaks down into the following categories of happiness:

:) :) :)
So many great free games and emulators available already, and things will only get better and better
The community (both other users and developers)

:) :)
Sound quality (with head-phones), particularly playing mp3s
Div-X videos: playing perfectly (though player is a bit crash-prone)
Screen quality

:)
General look and feel of the console
Battery life: a bit short but will only get better

The joystick: a weak point, but not as bad as some people seem to think
General state of the firmware
No TV-out yet

:(
USB doesn't work for me
My power supply doesn't work, though it should

:( :(
Cannot flash firmware, in spite of hours of trying

:( :( :(

Well I have my GP2X on order from GBAX who will be sending me it for around Christmas. So far, after watching this board for some time, I think that I will be very very happy with my GP2X. I had a GP32 but had to keep sending it back because the flu kept blowing and I got a GBA cart insted. I loved the GP32 and if what I am reading on here is anything to go by then I will love the GP2X also.

Yeah, I'm not all that worried yet, but I have had many things get lost on their way from england to italy and I'm just really hoping that the GP2x doesn't get added to my list.

The worst was probably a box of christmas presents for my wife's family from my mum. Someone had opened it, taken everything that they could fit in pocket and resealed the box with "Poste Italiane Security Check" tape. Security check? Thanks!

At this very moment I'm waiting for a dvd, a computer game (this one is a replacement for a previously lost-in-the-post order) and my gp2x, all running late.

I really hate crappy postal services.
