Gp2x - Some Video Only Plays With Green Screen

I have some video (GSpot reports it as XviD encoded) that will only play with a green screen on the GP2X. Does anyone have any idea why this might be? The sound plays just fine.

Video Codec isn't really XviD or has some sort of encoding that is either to new or to old for the Mplayer on the gp2x

That's about what I figured. I hope we get some updated codecs from GPH soon. Thanks.

Im getting annoyed with my GP2X now, I was just showing my brother the video play back then about 30 seconds into what I was showing him (American Dad) the screen froze, image went fuzzy, startred waving, green and purple lines covered the screen and its just all frozen, keeps doing this now and its not a battery issue as I just put my 3rd pair in and ive not even been using it for more than 2 hours.

Im not impressed and my family think ive been conned out of my money for a faulty product. Surely something like this would have been found in the testing stages.

Anyone know whats wrong with my GP2X?

It's the firmware...... stick around, firmware will be updated...... don't know how many times this must be said.... also, the new firmware would probably just be compensating for your mistake; sounds like a frozen stream, look for a frame or stream unfreezer.

Alpha eX, despite your comment it could still be a battery issue. If the GP2X is anything like the GP32 only decent batteries will work. Cheap ones fail very quickly even though they probably have enough juice left to last for ages in a radio for example.

My cheap NiCads fail within minutes but last ages in our phone they just can't deliver the required amps the GP32 needs.

If it does turn out to be batteries invest in some decent 2000+ MAH NiMH.

Well this time is actually still testing stages in a sense. Since nobody wanted to wait and started demanding the gp2x's, Gamepark started sending out products that weren't completely ready yet (software wise). Now there's a lot of people who appreciate the fact that they can have a go at the hardware early and are perfectly happy to wait for all the updates (firmware updates) to arrive in order for the device to become totally consumer ready at the real shipping date somewhere later this or early next year. What gamepark didn't recon was that a lot of people just forget about the units being in some sort of beta stage (software wise) and become unhappy customers.

The gp2x as it is now is not a 100% consumer product yet. Devices that have been sent out will become better through software updates. If you want a ' perfect' product out of the gp2x this instant, just go for a PSP and a 1Gig memstick I say....
