I am considering buying a gp32, however I can’t decide whether to opt for the backlit version or not.

I will be using it in daylight (on the train, in the back of cars, etc.) mostly. But had problems with my gba in similar conditions.

Also, I'm a student and really can’t afford the backlit version unless I really need it :(

So..... Which should I buy

The only times when I havent been able to play my GP32 due to the screen is in extreme darkness. ie a room at night with no light on.

The normal GP32 screen seems to work very well in just dim light, and, if you say it's mainly for daylight playing, there is no need for a backlight. (Although some people will swear by FLU)

It is 100% times better than the GBA (Seriously, bot fan boying here). The main problem with the GBA screen in my opinion was the refelection it caused, often you could just see yourself and nothing else - GP32 doesnt suffer this...

Also, most programs and emus have a gamma option in them, which if you think the screen is looking a little dark, you can just lighten up the screen a little.

My conclusion is, if you can afford it, go for the Lit version, it's not going to hurt you and it's always nice to have the option. But if you cant, and if it's mainly for daylight playing, dont sweat it, you'll have no problems.

Savvy?

I haven't got the frontlit version and I don't have any problems getting up to turn a light on if I am having trouble seeing the screen
