Zodiac Vs Gpx2

you know! i just found out that the zod had 2 sd slots and a 480x320 resolution(higher than psp) display!
what's the movie playback like? it will play xvid/mpg2/etc at various resolutions, right?
a screen resolution like that would be a lot better for ebooks as well!
hmm...wouldn't mind picking up a zod for cheap sometime since the price was the main thing that put me off back then.

Movie playback is perfect, if you use Picard's TCPMP media player program. It uses the Zod's 2D accelorator for superb movie playback. I just wish the Zod had hardware decoding of H264 like the PSP. But that is one of the reasons I own both a Zodiac2 and a PSP...and soon a GP2X :D

the zodiac looks good, and i have been very tempted by that when it got out...

but i don't have it :D (maybe if i had money at that time :p )

but if it was on linux, more powerful, the GP2X would have NO meaning,
the zodiac has an analog stick, for real :D
it also has a touch screen
it has 2 SD ports so you can use your memory card AND a sdio device ,
and it's cheaper than the GP2x

horsepower and palmOS are it's only defects, don't you think ?
if not, what else? :D
The analog stick is also often defect... -_-' But for me it's as close to a perfect device as it gets. PalmOS is a good thing, not a bad one. If it had Linux, all software would have to be newly made, rewritten, recompiled, fine tuned etc. and most Linux software wouldn't run at all. With PalmOS it has a library of around 20.000 programs to choose from.
But I don't think it's cheaper than the GP2X, the price is still pretty high. If you can find a cheap one, tell me! I'd like to buy another one... :D

looked for a zodiac on ebay and it was much more expensive than the gp2x in germany. (ebay 350€ if you buy direct)

FORGET THE ZODIAC!

looking for it's price i found this new :

Yes... it is time to say goodbye to our little PDA that almost could. The Tapwave Zodiac, a very solid product in itself, and recieved very good reviews, simply never caught on. Tapewave issued a statement a couple days ago. From just reading it you can feel how somber they must all be over at the company:

"We are sorry to inform you that the Zodiac business was discontinued and service and support are no longer available as of July 25th 2005… We thank you for your past interest and support and apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused."

you just found out?
would still like to pick up a zod sometime ...when it's cheaper

yep, i didn't care about the zodiac for tha last months or more so i just found out :p so of course it's time for the ebayers to speculate quite much :p maybe i'll buy one next year when it'll be cheap if i find one who is not too used :p

Well, they still run... :p Most of them anyway.

Yes, Tapwave are gone but it doesn't really matter much. If anything we've been getting more stuff since.
