I was one of the first to preordered a GP2X, and I'm witing impatiently for the very first batch of GP2X to arrive (I know Craig will be the first distributor to have the GP2X in stock).

But I'm a little worried about the very fact that this will be the first batch of GP2X: will all the machines in this early release be totally OK from every point of view ?

We all know that perfection comes only with practice, but on the other side quality control and zero defect production tecniques are a reality of industrial manufacturing.

Craig, from what you know or can estimate, should I be worried about my first batch GP2X to not be totally perfect (I think everybody knows about the 'dead pixels' issue of the first PSP released by SONY, and GPH is not SONY - with all the due respect) ?

What if some of these first machines turn out to be defective ? Will you replace them ?

Thanks in advance.

im not craigix but... i never heard of any gp32 with dead pixles.

sony just used crap because they wanted to earn more money and gph wont do that

If you are worried, wait!!!!

Do you expect Craig to say"yes, they will all have faults, I wouldn't bother..."

I'll be quite surprised if he'll say that !! :p

I'm only asking if he has already thought something in case some units will turn out to be defective (something that could be probable being the very first ones).

And no, I do not want to wait... :D

I should think UK has some sort of consumer protection laws, that would stipulate that if product has defects affecting it's intended use, a replacement should be provided.

As a production engineer I have to state that this sentence is rubbish. Zero defects? Trust me that is miles from the truth.

I also have pre-ordered from GBAX, although I am not too worried about quality as it is usual for a new product to have a much higher inspection rates early in production.

Well they will be as good as the first GP32's - any problems anyone remembers? They also have the added benefit of it being the same factory and 3-4 years experience.

Oh, and watch out for an email tomorrow if you preordered ;)

Thanks Craig !!

I'll keep a constant eye on my mailbox !

BTW, I preordered on the 27th of July, and my e-mail is 'weirdocollector@inwind.it' (just to be helpful ;) )

Thanks again.

Part of the "fun" of being an early adopter is dealing with initial kinks and bugs. ;) But assuming GP2X is made with the same QC as GP32, it should be fine IMO. I personally always had very good experiences with GamePark hardware. Wish I could say the same for every manufacturer.

I have had my non FLu Gp32 since the first shipment back in the day. I have no dead pixels, broken buttons or probelms at all. And it overclocks to 158...The GP2x will be fine. I ve preordered.

The screen will be the exact same one that is in the GP32 BLU+ so it isn't new. This means they have been getting them regularly so the chances of getting dead pixels is the same I would guess.

Don't know about the other stuff in there.

Judging by it being 5:50 will we be waiting till tomorrow now? I'm not too bothered i've got more than enough chemistry homework to keep me going....
