Whole Underground closed... so anyone using the underground today needs to find a new way

People are saying more busses have exploded

Definatly looks like terrorists... Im guessing its a 1 in a million chance of having a power surge causing 2 explosions then Busses exploding right after it...

Yea, you could beleive it was just a power surge when that happened, but when busses start exploding as well, makes it sound like terrorists :(

Explosion on tube as well, i work round the corner from one of the tube stations..

bedlam round here at the moment ,roads closed off, mobile network closed down, masses of people who've been evacuate from there buildings in the zone...

If it is terrorists then the most sickening thing is, they attacked the subway, waited until the evacuated people got on buses as an alternative and then finished them off there.

The repercussions of this are going to be pretty scary.

OMG this is Bad -

1205 Prime Minister Tony Blair, at the G8 summit in Gleneagles, says there has been "a series of terrorist attacks in London... people have died and are seriously injured... It is reasonably clear this is designed and timed to coincide with the opening of the G8". He says he will return to London within hours, but that the summit will continue without him

1130 Signs on major roads into London warn: "Avoid London. Area closed. Turn on radio"

1126 The president of the European Parliament, Josep Borrell, blames terrorism for a "coordinated series of attacks" and "confirmed deaths"

He says he believes the six affected areas are Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate, but says it is "still a confusing situation". He advises Londoners to "stay where you are - all of London's transport is currently disabled" - he refuses to confirm any fatalities

1055 A doctor tells Reuters there are at least 90 casualties at Aldgate station

1053 Home Secretary Charles Clarke makes a statement outside Downing Street about "dreadful incidents" causing "terrible injuries". He says Prime Minister Tony Blair has been informed and advises the public in London not to make unnecessary journeys

1051 A passenger on a train at Edgware Road says he saw several bodies in the wreckage. A police spokesman says two trains remained stuck in tunnels at Edgware Road

1025 Transport union officials say they have reports of explosions on three buses, PA says

1025 PA reports two buses damaged in explosions - one in Russell Square and another in Tavistock Square. Witness, Belinda Seabrook said of the Russell Square blast: "I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang, I turned round and half the double decker bus was in the air"

1025 The BBC's Andrew Marr, with the prime minister in Gleneagles, says Number 10 is "still unsure" whether the explosions are a terrorist attack

0915 Press Association reports emergency services called to London's Liverpool Street Station after reports of an explosion

0849 An incident on the Metropolitan Line between Liverpool Street and Aldgate is reported to British Transport Police

2 people dead

7 confirmed explosions. 1 bus, 6 tube stations.

If it is terrorists then the most sickening thing is, they attacked the subway, waited until the evacuated people got on buses as an alternative and then finished them off there.

not entirely accurate, as I understand it the blasts were all pretty much simultanious. Not that that it makes much of a difference I guess.

I wonder how long it'll take for the government to start cynically exploiting this tragedy for their own ends?

news said 20 Dead now and atleast 7 bombs and that they think its Al Quaida

Islamist website carries message claiming responsibility for London attacks.

Terrorism sucks! My deepest sympathies to all those affected and the British people in general because no one deserves to have that done to them.

:(

terrorism sucks indeed. But we shouldn't let the threat of terror erode our personal freedoms and civil liberties, once that happens the terrorists have won.

What was that shit in america, the patriot act?

Indeed. If you think that's bad, you should see the Patriot Act II.

Unfortunately, the Patriot Act is a necessary evil within the United States today. I can't wait till the day when such a act is no longer needed, but, if we want to protect our people, such a thing is good and necessary.

Also, trust me, it is not abused. I can't actually think of a moment where it was used as of yet. However, if our intelligence services were to find a clear and imminent threat, thanks to the Patriot Act there are fewer legal hoops (but still some) to slow down the police forces to apprehend the enemies.

But I really hope nobody believes it's stealing away human right and privacy in America. Living here, I can assure you it doesn't--not for Americans, at least.

With all that said, my sympathy to everyone effected by these explosions... things are going to get crazy now.

well maybe us barbaric americans fighting a war on terror isn't so bad after all, this is a damn shame and it sickens me, especially since i've gotten to get close to this community which has many members from this part of the world. After what happened here with the Trade Centers and the like, i'm sorry that other people have to now go through the same thing, albeit on a smaller scale, but still, terrorism is terrorism whether it kills 2,000 people or 200 people and is something that needs to be stopped however it can be stopped.

What confused me was why people were asking for Blair to return to London as the attacks were still going on.

It's safer now, but to be fair it makes no sense to bring the chief executive back when there's a small chance that he could be in danger.

well thats ok then <_< *cough*guantanamo(sp) bay*cough*

don't get me wrong, of course terorism is terrible and utterly unacceptable, however knee-jerk reactions and scare-mongering are entirely the wrong way to combat it.

however the al-quida are a loose collection of dissaffected students and religous fundamentalists that could be apprehended with a sustained and co-ordinated global investigation. And by the by terror suspect or not, EVERYONE is entitled to basic human rights.

I personally feel that Blair will use this tragedy to push through the ID card scheme. I sincerley hope I'm wrong though.

Actually, I think that postponing the g8 summit at all is playing right into the hands of whoever is behind this. Had I been the prime mininster I would have waited until the summit was over before returning.
