lol, I didn't know you were either, though I don't post a whole lot. Nin is here, too, but he's been gone lately. (here and there) do you have a gamepark?

For those that are wondering what the heck we are talking about, I know this guy from benheck.com :)
Hey, I used to visit that website too! :) I only ever posted on the forum once or twice, however... I wonder what's happening there now? *goes over to check*

You get to do that at school? Pfft, our school blocks everything worthwhile <_<

My old school blocked Blizzard.com saying it had violent games, when you couldn't even download them. And everybody brought Starcraft to school (except me, I brought Warcraft 2 BNE) and the teachers were okay with it.

Yeah, Battle .Net Edition, very addictive! Unfortunately I lost the cd and the .iso backup is on my other hard drive which is in a dead computer (the drives alright though) :(

Well, if you want my opinion the movies that you have taken down are no great loss.
Full, studio made movies are best done in the privacy of your own home, really.

There are loads of public domain films and clips available on the Internet and although I don't have the slightest idea about ftps and what not, I can convert a video file to the necessary format and send it to somebody.

I'll sign up on that forum now...

cool. also internet archive is good. I will make notes tomorrow. Need to check with bronze tho
m I need more movies!.

Found another way to guarantee PD status =D. NOTLD for example is distributed by... (according to Amazon UK)

Night Of The Living Dead [1968] Oracle Home Entertainment Limited
Night Of The Living Dead - Special Collector's Edition [1968] Elite Entertainment Inc.
Night Of The Living Dead [1968] Prism Leisure Corporation
Night Of The Living Dead [1968] Moonstone Pictures
Night Of The Living Dead [1968] Stax Entertainment Ltd
Night Of The Living Dead [1968] Tartan Video
Night Of The Living Dead / Revenge Of The Zombies [1943] Waterfall Home Ent. Int. Ltd

Diagnosis: Romero forgot to copyright it. Silly bugger.

That doesn't mean its PD, these companies could just be licensing/paying royalties.

A trouble you will come across is that Public Domain has a different definition in the USA and Europe.

Essentially, making these movies available to download from Europe is illegal. Don't get me wrong, other people do it, you probably won't get caught and I take no offense to it.

As long as you realise, that's all.

Just make your own copy from a DVD of the film, its the best way. GPTheatre will be a home to lots of brilliant PD movies, don't you worry.

According to you, then, it's illegal to put anything up for download as long as it's illegal anywhere in the world (because the internet can be accessed anywhere). Doesn't that seem a bit like overkill? If everybody held up that "law", for example, then the game DOOM and anything to do with it would NOT be available online (because it's illegal in Germany). There are some countries that ban most movies from other countries, and vice versa.

I, for one, think it's ridiculous to look at laws from countries OTHER than the ones that your server is located on. It's not even a matter of "you probably won't get caught". If other countries want to ban things on the internet, that's their business. They should just do what China does (that is, limit internet access for their population). <_<
