hm. v1.1 readme says 706 romsets, 1.2 says 710. There must be 4 new supported romsets.

It has. Just run GPMAMECopier over your 1.1 rom directory and create a miss list using the latest gamelist.txt

Then you'll know what roms are new ;)

well, speaking of "not available": was someone able to get the GBA game "God"? for me, all 4 mirrors seemed to be down.

Why is it that all you care about is GBA? Maybe someone on the GBA boards will have it.

LMAO about the sand, Dave chill man. No, but the Zelda games are classics. Anyways I have found that the new GB emulators has its own save states and game saves so it looks like I will need to either find out the different namming conventions or finish the game wiyht the old GB emulator. Can't wait to try MAME later once I get home...

EDIT: One last thig I forgot to say if you run the new GB emulator and try to play the old one it will crash and reboot unless you dlete the setting text file each time and then it's fine..

Also, any one how to get the virtual keyboard to work in the new MSX emulator???

What happened to it? I went to get it but it says "Currently not available" WTF?

The download for it will be up soon. Just a few licence queries that needed to be sorted to make sure that everybody involved was happy.

Another World that is ;).

I think the license should not be too much of a problem ... Eric Chahi the creator of the game "Another World" (Out of this World , in the US) got the license back from Delphine a few weeks ago and therefore gave the right to use his game in a free GBA version released a few weeks ago .

So a GP32 version should not be so much troublesome . Eric Chahi is a cool guy too :) and amazing coder as he designed and coded the original Another world all by himself.

Quick summary of my thoughts so far:

Hugo32: Nice pepy tune, cute graphics. My only complaint is the movement of our hero is too slow. The ground movement gives a nice feeling of speed but he seems to move slower than the enemies. I like my shooters zippy. :D
With a bit of tweaking this could be a lot of fun.

Space Dodger: Very playable. Has almost the opposite problem that Hugo has. Slipping and sliding all over the place but once you get a handle on it, it's very playable. The music helps keep up the pace nicely.

Qwarage: Looks good and the music is excellent but it's still in the early stages of development so it doesn't play very well just yet. One to keep an eye on.

Spotz: Similar principle to sudoku. Nicely presented. I need more time to spend with this one.

Twins: Basically match the pairs up like the pairs game on the old Nokias. Again nicely presented although I personally feel that the font is overly fussy and makes it harder to read. It has various sized boards for you to sink your teeth into.

Happy Giant: Cute graphics, simple controls. Squash the bads guys by jumping...... alot.
It reminds me of those online games where you have to hit the penguin to get it to travel as far as you can only this time you have to make lots of smaller jumps and aim with a bit more precision.
Another one that I need more practise with. :)

It should be a good work break tomorrow. :D

You’re quite correct.

Trust me when I say it's all sorted. I am involved with the GP32 port heavily enough to know it's all ok but I wanted a few things in writing and not just from Eric to prevent any proverbial hitting the fan at a later date. Better safe then sorry.

Oh, and the port is great :D.

All virtual keyboards are not implemented in this release. You also have no keypad on the Coleco emu anymore either. He will add later so you will have to wait for fDay for it.

whoa, someone's got sand in his vagina! No seriously, I would just like to have it (as i coincidentaly own a GBA with Flashcard). And I just "reviewed" the GBA stuff first, as it was just double clicking it and bang, VBA starts. I'm currently transfering all GP32 stuff to my SMC.

btw: does anyone konw, what new romsets Mame 1.2 supports?

none as far as i know, see if you can spot any difference in speed as it seems very similar to 1.1 to me

The new MAME *IS* faster. Before MrDO! had to be run at 166MHz to be fullspeed at FS0. Now it is fullspeed at FS0 at only 133 MHz. Same with Ms. Pac-man. Have yet to try others. So there is a DEFINITE speed increase.

i have tried gorf, slight increase at 0fs. gradius equally slow, galaxian equally slow, all running at 166mhz.

Will test more and report back

???

Please test them more... You can play all classic games at fs0.
For more modern games you will have to put fs1 or fs2.
Later games are faster, but don't expect to work wonders...

Gradius is a M68000 game (it will play slow, but quite faster than before and without vertical scanlines). Galaxian runs at 100% (slow???). In almost all games you can decrease frame-skip because the mame core is faster than before... But M68000 games are slow and i doubt i could improve this without ASM (Reesy!!!)... But MAME is not very simple and i doubt Gradius will run at 100% because the M68000 processor emulation is only a 33% of the cpu time now. Also the sound emulation occupies a lot now. Check it without sound !

The new supported games are:
Black Tiger and his clones (it runs very well).
Pang (the sound is a bit bad).

Regards :).

Thank you Dave and EvilDragon for cleraing that up about the virual keyboard. For MSX anyways I think I will need to go back the the pervious version so I can play some of the games I like which is a shame. That's good to know it will be there in the final...

about pressing key numbers in fMSX32 with no vkeyboard help, RTFM
about SRAM in fGB32, wait for a further beta
about old saves in any emu, probably i wont deal with 'em

Thanks a lot for the new emulator versions, Rlyeh! Playing Wario, Donkey Kong, etc on fGB32 brings back so many memories :D

I understand about 68000. I don't expect much with that, it is tough.

Do you think you will ever implement DrZ80 ASM core from Reesy? This would give a further boost to many older games. They would probably all run at FS0 and 133 MHz.

I think the reason most people think that MAMEGP still runs slow is the fact, that the sound still crackles (even playing classic games with fs2).
At least, my BLU+ does that.

BTW: Crazy Kong crashes with sound on, as soon as Kong jumps on the top bar.
With sound off, it's okay.

The sound will stutter at anything other than FS0. It is like when you skip frames you also skip audio as well causing the sound to be a bit off. So if you can run at FS0 the sound will be better.
