I used to have a program that told me loads of in depth stuff about my PC... bios version, motherboards, etc.... only I cant remember waht it was called. Anyone help? Also is there any way of disovering what PSU I have without actually taking apart my PC? Annnnd (finally), waht PSU would someone recommend for an athlon Xp 2200+, cooleing fan, Graphics card + fan, audigy sound card, and other usual gubbins?

Astra32, One of the best sysinfo tools, Get the demo here.

Astra32

As for power supplies, I`d say a good make 350 watt or for a cheap make get the highest you can afford.

Unless someone knows different, The only way i know to find out the rating of a power supply is from the sticker on the side of it. So yes you will have to take the side off your computer, Though im sure you will have at least a 300 watt in there, The minimum recommended by AMD.

It`s worth a try, The worst it could do is go bang, I mean not power up. :p

Give it a go, It wont do any harm to try, Btw, does it have enough molex connectors ?.

Did you try Astra32, Was what you needed ?.

mine did that as trooper knows now I got a 350 one now just to sell my 125 watt one lol

EDIT: and also if you got win2k/XP on a hdd and switching mobos make sure you do this: http://www.windowsreinstall.com/install/ot...rd/problems.htm (slolution 2 if you meet the requiremnets not to re-install) or you will get a BSoD if you try to boot up w/ new mobo

If you need the bios version, most systems display it after the POST. but usually they go straight into boot so you don't get a chance to see it. But there's a way around that, when you see the info displayed, press the ' Pause Break' key on your keyboard, this pauses the boot and allows you to see this info. If the PC gets as far as booting however, the Pause key won't work!

There's also a utility called Belarc advisor, it has lots of features and is a windows based tool, it will tell you everything you need to know about your system !!!
