I've said lots of stuff

And with all the stuff you have said, I'm glad I decided to not bother and leave my GP32 stock. 166mHz is enough for me.

heheh well, if I've helped anyone to decide one way or another if this mod is or is not for them, then I feel I've 'done my job' :) surely it's a pain in the butt or at least was for me but my end results were great, but I had to be VERY persistant to get there.

Well, everything still fine with my GP, 184mhz all day long with no problems on many games/emu's I've tried so far.

Glad you kept with it bast, You got to admit it`s worth it, Even though it can be time consuming and a pain in the ass to get right. :p

Btw, I`m very glad i went ahead and tried it, And hope that the ones that have done it will serve to prove to the ones thinking about doing the mod that it will not kill your GP, Well not immediately anyway. :p

Ive undone the mod now to avoid any undetectable damage happening, vcore was at 2.4v i think it was , i was thinking theres no need to go higher than 166 not many games/apps use that high,i want a gps mod now :D

excuse me to up the topic from the depth of the forum but I still have a problem to check the voltage of my Gp, I switch on the Gp, I put the black wire on T7 and the red on T8, in 20v mode, but the problem is that the voltmetre still display the value 0.00, if somebody could put a picture of the good settings for this he rocks!

Thanks

well it's been a little over a week now, playing my GP almost every day, and still having no problems at 180mhz. I found on some games 184mhz will lock it after 10-15 mins, but nothing has locked at 180mhz so far even after 1 hour + of play.

Some people had asked about the difference those few mhz makes, well, tested on four different games on DrMD (Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Alien Soldier, Dynamite Headdy) I was averaging about 4-5 fps more when I would turn the clockspeed up to 184mhz from 180mhz, and something like 10-20fps faster at 180mhz over what I was getting at 164mhz.

But anyways, my main point is, the GP is still alive and well :) and yeah I'm VERY glad I took the plunge to try, and stick with trying (and trying and trying) this mod until I got it right. I know lots of people question the worth of this mod vs. the SUPPOSED risk (still no one killed their GP as of yet it seems???) I have to say that I think the extra 10-20fps in DrMD is definately worth it for me :p

well, after 4 hours of tinkering spread over 3 days, I finally got a combo that didn't lock up at 166, and it does 180 stable. I havnt tried above that as I don't have anything that tests above 180 without going straight to 200
I ran stable at 200 for about 8-9 minutes in Quake before a lock-up
but I ran stable 180 for almost an hour

so, i need to try that clock tester to see where inbetween 180-200 I can max out at

Thx for info on how to do this mod

The mod is good at but how much does it reduce battery power by? hours?

Not good if you're on the road...

"You're taking 2 large bags for a weekend trip?"
"One of them is full of Duracells"

Dudes... read the thread, this has been mentioned already. It doesn't seem to lower battery life by that much at all. I can't compare how much faster it drains them running at 180mhz vs running 133mhz, as I almost always play DrMD at 164mhz before doing the mod, and got roughly 3-4 hours off of NiMH 2300 mAh rechargeables. I have two pair of batteries and a 90 minute quick charger. Now at the higher clockspeed I still get a good solid 3 hours, not a problem since the drained set will be fully charged much faster than I drain the second set... and if I'm gonna be away from the charger than 6 hours is plenty for me... hell it's more than my PSP usually gives me on a full charge :p And seriously, about that Duracell comment... ANYONE who uses a BLU really should not even consider rechargeable batteries an option... I mean come on! Seriously....

You have to remember as well, you're not ALWAYS going to be running EVERYTHING at your new highest clockspeed... I still run most other emu's at 133 or 166mhz, and most homebrew stuff runs at 132-133 or less. The only things I run at 180mhz are MAME, DrMD, and PHandy. Running other apps at more 'regular' speeds you should still get your regular battery life.

Octavious - why not test on DrMD? It goes up in mhz in increments of 4mhz, so you can test a wide range of speeds between 180 and 200mhz. This is what I use.

heh I know and it was funny too :) Honestly I've always felt the BLU is horrible with battery life anyways, I mean if a GBA SP or DS can have 10 hour battery life... (not like I ever GET 10 hours out of MY DS!!).... but rechargeables really are a necessity with a device like this if you ever play the friggin thing, whether you OC the crap out of it or not.

OK
what does DrMD play? what type of game I mean ( like SNES, Gen, Ive been gone a while. but should be back regulary in about a month, cable internet is coming back yay )
But, get this
I just used a pair of generic AA batteries in place of my recharges b/c they were charging, and I hit a 220 stable in Quake and can run at 240 for many minutes before it crashes
now thats fricken awesome

I want to get the clock tester and this DrMD thing you talk about, where can I get both of thoose in the latest form??

WHAT!!!, You don`t know what DrMD is (i know you have been away for a while), I`m surprised you never heard the screams of joy when it was released. </Drum Roll/>..... It`s... Only... Almost... Perfect MEGA DRIVE EMULATION ON THE GP32, With sound, Sssseeeggggaaaa and pretty good compatability. :D

Go play it NOW, You don`t know what you are missing.

I can see how he could miss out on DrMD, it's only been in every 15th posted topic in general over the last six months.. *laugh*

Yes... One of the most impressive Genesis emulators I've ever seen for any system. Better than a couple of the PC ones, quite honestly. Only ever play Sonic 2 on it, but that's the only cart I own. 50 cents, swap meet.

so its a pretty good Sega Gen Emu?
Last I knew there was that one SNES one, ( OSNES9x 2 or something ) and then there was a fgen wasnt there?

ok, so thats the app I want? I think I can hit a good 238 ish, and would love to see just how fast I can get it to go

pretty good  ? that's an understatement. If fullspeed Megadrive at 144mhz isn't pretty good then I don't know what is.
