hi...

i lost my usb - deleted my freelauncher and cant get it again via GP32.com

with the help of Blackdragon i have exausted all possibilities of doing it without the usb.

If anyone in the UK has a standard unlit GP32 and has - a spare usb - a dead gp32 that has a lead - or is willing to lend me one for a day - i would be so grateful.

(i can download my freelauncher and put it on cd like i shouldve done originaly)

i can pay you through paypal !

It might help if you say the town where you live - there could be another board member in the same street as you for all you know.

Non-lit GP32s came with a bios that needed Freelauncher to load homebrew software.

Freelauncher needs to be downloaded from GP32.com and has to be registered for that individual machine - which needs a USB cable to do.

The alternative would be to flash the firmware with something that doesn't need Freelauncher. But to do that you need to run the flashing software and that requires Freelauncher. It's kind of Catch 22...

To get past the problem he either needs a GP32 USB cable to install and register Freelauncher or a JTAG cable to flash the firmware. The other alternative would be to put a firmware flashing prog on the smc via a card reader that can be run without Freelauncher... I'm sure he'd welcome any suggestions on stuff that'll do this.

It's a bit of a long haul but if you can drag yourself to York (60 miles) I can sort you out.

thnx - you've all been so kind - the reason why i like the GP32 scene so much!

Then in a couple of weeks we'll have someone else looking for a USB lead :D

Before giving up altogether I'd have a thorough read of Darkfaders GP32 page. You might even want to contact him for advice. Or you could try what Sam suggests and PM horsht.

EDIT: There's an alternative method of getting Freelauncher on this webpage near the bottom but I've not read it completely so I dunno if it'll work.

You would be better off getting a BLU instead of a FLU, the screen looks WAY better.

I have a spare cable which I am prepared to sell for £2 (plus postage and PayPal charges so £3.50 should cover it). However, you would be far better off getting a FLU or BLU as they really are far better than the non-lit unit.

I have a BLU+. love it. Most of the stuff I use/want to use is ok now (except spout - which is still playable - 1130 is my greatest height so far BTW :) ).
