GP32 Xm-tracker For Gp32 In Dev?

Ringo, I actually also looked at Amiga scene for sources (the Amiga had alot of "Soundtracker" like programs) but either the sources was not available or it was assembler sources so you have point!

Don took a look at the SoundTracker for Unix so this might not be possible (because of too much Unix stuff I guess) but I found bettter link if someone else wants to have look...
http://www.soundtracker.org

But as I said before, CHN's modplayer maybe modified to handle all exceptions so that a mod that is not finished (or the editor/sequencer only passes a "qualified" mod to the player) than it should not be that hard to do a basic track editor that passes the mod for playing to CHN's modplayer...

Rik, at first glance this looked alright! But when reading the documentation the first line says "OPENCP is a music file player." and I guess the tracks that you see in the screenshot is only viewing what is played I guess...

But again... this could be the basis for a sequencer/tracker...

I just tried out that Prophet64 project ... In Frodo on the GP32 :p (www.prophet64.com)

It sounds like crap and you're unable to save :(

Ofcause you're not able to get the most out of the program, since the program is somewhat designed for use with external midi-hardware. You would also have to configure the buttons on the GP to something usefull.

But I seem to recall somebody mentioning save-states in Frodo - I just can't find it. Perhaps my version is a bit dated. That would make one able to "save"... Ofcause you would get in trouble, if you ever were to try getting it out of your GP32.

@ Firestarter:
Checked out some of your music. I must say "Cute Invasion" is simply the best tune I've heard in this genre. I've heard it intensly these last couple of days :)

Oops. Guess I didn't read properly. It'd be cool to get nanoloop 2 (GBA) ported too, but I don't think the guy releases his code, but perhaps with some persuasion. I have the original for old GB only, but the new one sounds better.

The hard bit is already done (the actual modplayer) if some writes a good interface and a editor (could be very very basic to start with) and combines the modplayer with some editor GUI you have a tracker...
Actually the hard bit might be the GUI...

that what i do in yAnl, it's very basic but you can change and save mods

all you can do is navigate in the mod, lock play on a pattern, mute channels, copy/paste a single note or many note, and up or down frequency of a note
good for 2 minuts of fun =)

i don't think i'll finish it a day (my gp is dead) :/

last release, (who also include fgb from rlyeh) can be found here

Prophet is 100% working even without external Midi-Hardware. No need for that. I am using prophet alot and i got to try it out on frodo one day aswell. In combination with the chatboard it should at least be controllable :)
Savestates should work fine aswell, at least i got no problems with it.

Thanks for the compliments about my track :) I made this track also mostly in the train while going to work. So there is really a cool tracker for gp32 needed that i can make nice music ;-)

I don't think Oliver will release the code of Nanoloop2. I met him one day and he got more a closed source idea with Nanoloop i think.
But on the other side, i think it might be good portable as the sound of NL2 is created by a softsynth which could work also on the GP32.

Compared to the LSDJ i think Nanoloop is not that powerfull. I wished somebody could make a GP32 music tool with a powerfull tracker sequencer/editor like lsdj!
LSDJ doesn't run smooth and not too good on fGB32. You can't hear the Kit's and the sequencer is running with a jitter which makes it useless :-(
Also that the select button is turning the light of my blu+ off is very annoying :)

@rov:

I will check your MOD-editor...maybe it's somehow usefull. At least , it looks cool.

all the best

Slightly OT:

I am after an XM (eXtended MOD) player library that has been converted for GP32, or that can easily be ported. It must be as optimised as possible (using it in games etc) and it must support at least 8 tracks, and most of the more common effects (so the 'want' list is pretty long :) )

Anyone know of any good ones?

I have been looking into mikplay, but the sources are HUGE (770kb rar file) and it seems it can support many other formats too. It may be possible to strip this back to the bare minimum, but I don't even know where to start. Any tips?
