Overclocked Stuff

LOL so you ended up doing fSMS anyways!!! well damn... if I'd known that I coulda waited one more day :p Ah well... a learning experience... if I keep hanging out here with you guys on this forum I WILL be a devver at some point.

Well I tried fSMS at 156, 166, 172 and 180.... 180's too fast, 156 still a tad too slow w/o frameskip... it's a draw between 166 and 172, if I want a little bit of scroll tearing with 166 or the too-fast music in 172. Friggin sweet though at least now I know how to OC almost anything :)

horscht you're welcome to the other three speed fxe's if you want to post them here I can send to you but really 166 is probably the best option anyways.

What I'm doing different is using uncompressed FXE's. I have a trick (patent pending :p ) to uncompress already compressed fxes (It's so bloody simple, I can't believe noone had the idea before me  ), but this process involves a tool which could easily be used (I even think it was concepted for) piracy. Well, I'm not sure if I can post the information here, but anyways, I'll do it.

Well all I can say is that you actually aren't the first one to find this out.. as the tool was indeed used for that kind of purpose (piracy)

I`ll post it here if and when i`ve done it.

Wish me luck.

It's GeePee and some other software.
There's just one problem: GeePee won't run your encrypted games :p So you can't simply run them and save the RAM :)

thank you very much, is there a tutorial on hexing these files?I understand how to get the gxb but I dont know what I am looking for if I want to overclock it.

well, there was one around on gp32world.co.uk, but that site got hacked and is no more. I still have the Overclocking table printed out. Here it is:

Code:
MHz CPU Speed CPU Parameters

168 007A030A 11C00400
172 0083400A 11E00400
176 008C7D0A 10400200

192 00B0710B 10800200
200 00C2EB0B 10A00200

So now let's make an example. I want to hex edit the os9xgp file to 200. What I do now, is to search for the Values that give a speed of 166. I then replace them with the values that give 200 MHz. save it, make an fxe out of it and BANG works. I myself copy over some stuff from the original fxe back to make the menubackground working again, but that is not necesssary
