Ipod Clone Serves As Temp Storage For Gp32

I tested the divice a little more... The medion player has also a delete command so you can delete files on the smc-card directly... So it is an ideal back-up device.

I agree that it is an expensive device just to do some backing up or to carry extra data on the road. I bought it only to serve as a music player so the extra´s just come in handy....

Greetings,

Tom

Or, as someone said, have the emulators and stuff directly access the HDD trough the USB... It's USB 2.0... I quess it's fast enough.

Edit: To post before previous.

But something smaller would be quite adequate...

but what I want to know is, is there any other device that can do the same thing?
is that cheaper?
is there the same thing, but a 5 or 10 gig file

i have emailed medion to ask if the player will be coming to uk aldi stores and am waiting for a reply.
Thanks

Can't say if that has the on-the-go file transfer required for GP use... Gotta look into it.

Damn my botched german courses... Ich sprech nicht deutch.

fuck fuck damn scheisse, kacke shit!
F U C K!
for 3 weeks i had buy this player, fuck
! i decided to bring them back to aldi cause the sound was not good!
this post comes to late ! FUCK!

sorry, but im very angry now

Hello, I purchased an ipod clone overhere in Belgium (Medion).
The device comes with an usb-to-go cable.
So it is perfectly possible to connect the standard gp32 usb cable to the Ipod-clone.
This device has a 20gig HD so using gpDrive on the gp32 it is possible to copy data to and from the gp32's smc-card.

Ideal for those extra files on the move...

Greetings,

Tom

Hello Tom :)

This news is extremly exciting & fantastic :)
But could you try the GPLinux to see if it can work with it & repport here the results ? :)
Then it would be THE perfect matched HDD for GPLinux :p
Maybe with a smaller version like the 5 Go one it'll be even more easy to carry :)
Many thanks :)

Am I missing something here??

Rather than buying a gp32 (suited to playing emulated games) and an ipod clone (suited to playing music) in order to play longer videos + have more roms.. would it not be better to buy a portable video player with a 20gig hard drive. I mean they're not expesive these days, they're suited to the purpose and I'm sure the video quality is a lot, lot better than what you'd get on a gp32.

Why walk around with 2 devices connected by a cable?? Or even shell out to buy a music player so you can watch longer videos.

It's like the equivalent of shelling out for a portable cd player with a cassette interface for old car stereos and then inserting that into your walkman and walking around listening to it.

??? You dont walk around with 2 devices connected at the same time.... and can a Portable Movie player emulate SNES, Genesis, SMS, Etc Etc Etc???? This IPod clone external HDD is only being used so far to copy upto 128mb to the SMC... Imagine saving all the latest GP32 programme's / Emulator's / Game's, Nearly Every ROM for the emulators, All your encoded Films, and have room for a few hours of music

You would only realy need 1 x 128MB SMC Card...

Make folders on the Device (If possible) like -

SNES - And put the SNES Emu on and Fill it with SNES Roms upto 120MB (To allow room for saving)
Genesis / Megadrive - And Put the Gen Emu and Fill it up with Roms
Etc Etc Etc
*Insert Name of Film here* - Put GPCinema and the Film into this folder
etc etc etc

then you can just transfer the console from the MP3 player to the GP32

nullpoint has a point, despite his name claiming otherwise. You're spending about 400 euros on two gadgets, where that same price can probably get you something which can do both and more.

However, Steve-O also has a point. If you spend your money on this unit instead of lots of SMCs (take EvilDragon for example, he has 7 or 8), then it's a far better deal.

30€ for SMC, you can get 7 for the 220€ that thing costs. That's about 900MB's... So it would be cheaper. However, it's a lot of money to spend in one go... :(

lol just buy it again

however, since im living cologne we have aldi here :) !!
so i could buy the damn thing.... but 200€ ... mmhmmm.... @TomVS is it worthy for the file transfer? for music i have a 256mb ram mp3/ogg/wma player (usb stick) and thats already nuff for me for music on the go... so i would just need it for the gp32.... mm... 200€ ....

I don't think €200 is the right price for extra storage... I have 4 smc cards and those cards are already enough storage for me.... So if you do not need the device as a music player... That is after al what it is designed for.

As a music player it is the underdog when you read reviews on the net... It is just not the show off device like the apple Ipod...
But whatever people say it does the music playing thing very well !

Great point here... the price is abit too spicy for me anyway , that's true... but that's not so bad to know it exist ;)

Hi

I've just got the idea what would happen if we just give gpdrive a file browser. If we do could it connect to other devices to transfer files (Like the iPod clone but only the other way round)??? (Maybe I'm just alking shit :( )

so you mean like the gp32 calling the files from the mp3 player ,,., that sounds good although a program would have to be made just for that reason or gp linux could call them
