Ive been tryin to get the sony program called image convertor 2 from there site but its in japanese :(. Anyone know where i could get it from a site in renglish maybe ? or does anyone know how to do it using something else like virtual dub or something ?

i think there was one from the videolan team, but not sure, google guide you for sure, learn to use the force!

You act like I havent already. I googled h.264 encoders the DAY I heard about the PSPs Mpeg4 playback but all I ever found was shareware and programs that didnt do true h.264

Nothing as far as I know, I just recently found that. My question to Vimacs was if he had any other links since he seemed to suggest there were several other free ones.

I prefer the 3GP_Converter that the official Sony software. More options, more customisable.

anyway, the h.2whatever codec doesn't seem all that efficient, well for their settings anyway. how can't a full length movie fit on a 512mb stick if its resolution is only 320X220(?), but you see high quality xvid encoded movies with a higher resolution(640X480) that seem to offer a better compression ratio than this.??
their bitrate setting seemed a bit too high, too.

^ yeah i felt like reposting in the right thread.

I really think they're too spoiled to stoop to the type of settings we use on the GP32, they seem to be thinking it's gotta be 30fps and stereo which is where they blow a lot of memory. But I also have read a lot of people say they didnt feel h264 was all that great either.

They probably would have been better off just going straight Mpeg2 or something but then they couldnt try to sell you a $15 conversion program.
