When i zip my roms and use them with dr.md 1.0,
some rom names are wrong!
then you can't see the name!! there is just one letter or a number:
e.g.: A or 8 or & <_<

The first time when i used Dr.md, my roms weren't zipped and
i could see the correct rom name!!!

what's wrong? i know that the roms which are in the zip file
must have the same name like the zip file...
Does someone have the same problem?? :(

What did you use to compress the roms ?.
How many roms are in the zip files ?.

Use winrar to compress the roms, If you select all the roms you want to compress (Press ctrl+a on your keyboard), Then right click one of the files and in the context menu that appears, Select "add to archive".

The winrar window should appear, Sellect zip in the archive format part of that window. Then go to the files tab in that window and put a tick in the option that says "Put each file to seperate archive" at the bottom of the window. Then click ok.

there is only one rom in each zip file.
can i put more in one??
and i use winzip to compress them...

but when i right click on the files, i can only use the option to compress them
with winzip. but maybe i can start winrar and drag and drop them into it...
i will try it.

is it better to use winrar?

I think this problem is to do with the CRCs of the files.

When you don't use zip files the roms CRC is calculated by Dr MD and then it displays it's name from the GoodGen database.

If you use a zip file it takes it's CRC and compares it with the GoodGen database. The fact that you are zipping the files yourself may be screwing this up as they would have different CRCs to the pre-zipped roms you download (I think).

If it doesn't find the CRC in the database I think it's supposed to take the filename of the file inside the zip and show it in the list.

I'm not sure which way Reesy does it, but there are two ways of obtaining the name of the rom:

The first has already been mentioned - CRC the file and get the name from a database.

The second way is to open the rom and read the embedded game name from inside.

If your getting nothing but a few strange characters, then Reesy could be using the second method, which would give garbage on a zipped rom unless handled correctly.
