Heh, a cool reading-light mod in the pipeline?

Hehe, not exactly a reading mod :)

But I completely removed the broken LCD and soldered some wires to the BackLight.

Now it's a perfect light for looking at Dia Frames :)

(I know I'm crazy ;))

@Telco:
Thanks for clicking... but they only count clicks from different IPs.
Otherwise it would be too easy to make money from that (just open
an account and click on your own banner as often as you can ;))

Hmm... just looked... a GP32 BLU with Dungeon and Guarder SMC and RF-Link is 133 Euro atm at Lik-Sang... not bad :)

And if it doesn't reach 166MHz, I still have a working BLU board which runs at 166MHz, so I can always exchange them :)

But I'll still try on Monday getting a new LCD first... :)

Well you got a banner click from me as well. Every little helps and all. I was going to paint my case and give mine a volt mod, but now I'm not so sure.

All you need is a "slot" for the dia's...

Not really, as the TFT display is removed, there is some more space left in the original frame in which the TFT and the BLU is embedded.

You can snap in your dia's between it and the BLU :)

Works great :)

I wonder if replacing the LCD would fix the problem with the gray bar some people have suffered...

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Since this bar is not ALWAYS visible, the LCD is fine.
It must be a chip in the GP hardware which causes this.

Maybe I can get hold of an LCD from the faulty batch - then I can tell you for sure.

At this rate you might as well just ask Game Park for a circuit diagram and hunt down all the componants yourself. You might have to make a custom case but it would certainly be unique. ;)

Notch me up for a banner click as well........

@ EvilDragon...

If you find a lot of resistance when trying to buy a screen direct from the manufacturer you might want to try a different angle. There will be no profit in it for them as the small amount that they make on an individual screen would be easily outweighed by the cost in man-hours of processing the order and running it through the accounts.

However, all companies like positive publicity. If you could put some spin on it whereby they get publicity then I'm sure they'd be keen. A quirky press release like "Samsung shows they aren't to big to help the little guy!" would get press interest, especially if it was backed up by something independant like.... erm, I dunno.... a load of positive posts on some discussion board of something... dunno how you could pull that off though :p

Welcome to the world of grey bars. :p

Hals und Beinbruck! (Or something...)

I'm not getting a new BLU, I'm getting an intact LCD from a defective BLU, so it should be a Samsung one :)

As much I understood, but maybe the "defect" of the BLU was grey bar... ;)

Haha, I don't think they will rip out the LCD from a "grey bar" BLU, as they have the confirmation from GamePark that these units aren't defective ;)
