Just wondering guys. I remember playing Nes When i was a kid..... My fav game was MarioBros.... And I remembers playing Mortal Combat on sega.......... Goddddddd the BLOOOOOOOOOOOD.... God I loved that game. Specially the fatalitys... Now I dont enjoy Playing them cause im always on Starcraft... Or WC3 whell starcraft mostly cause wc3 kinda sucks :p . Tell me what u guys think.

Oh P.S I know some of you are going to try to say that snes isnt really that much of a classic but it runs on 16 Bits and thats preaty classic to me :p

I give it about two posts before someone says the following:

Where's the PCEngine? (You'll hear this a good few times)
Where's the C64/Speccy/Vectrex/Neo Geo/BBC Micro?
This has been done before.

1) Yeah, you're missing systems
2) Needs to break out between 8bit and 16bit; you coudl do even "Atari 8bit" and "Atari 16bit" in one group, or make two polls.. one for comparing 8bits (NES to C64) and another for >=16bit (ST, Amiga, SNES, Genesis)
3) Obviously the Atari ST is the best, but everyone will put SNES due to damned ChronoTrigger :)

Atari 800 is the best.

The Atari 800 emu on Gp32 is fantastic, full speed 60fps (@ 166Mhz) and I can even run BASIC XL which was the first programming language I ever learned (but I totally forget how the PM commands worked, lucky I still have the manual) - chatboard support is cool.

The Atari 800 had some really cool original games, like Star Raiders, Preppie, Dandy and Necromancer. And also some very competent arcade ports, including Joust, Donkey Kong, Pac man etc.

Check out some demos on the 800 too, and you'll see it was capable of things its main competitors (C64 and Apple II) could never do, like putting 128 colors onscreen at once for example.

Jeff - Atari ST was great, but the 800 is where all the Atari computer goodness really started. B)

GameCom

I know your joking, but have you actually tried that thing before? It may just be one of the shoddiest "handheld" I ever used. <_<

lol yes i was joking, and yes i have one and almost every game made for it. if you want to see it, go to my website and click on my collection. I have some pics of a handful of my systems. the rest of my systems are still in my parents shed.

Glad you have a passion for the ST or we'd not have CaSTaways. :)

The systems of old that I have fondest memories of are my Spectrum, Snes, Mega Drive and my Amiga. Favourite out of those beauties? Hmm ... not sure. As only two are on the poll I'll go for the Snes (for Zelda, Mario Kart, SF2 Turbo and Yoshi's Island).

The Atari had a much better color pallette than the C64 at 256 vs 16, But the C64 had much better sound capability with the different waveform types. In the end they had their good and bad points.

The Amiga was designed by the Atari computer designers, and the ST was from the Tramiels which were responsible for C64. So in reality I always think of the Amiga as the sucessor to the Atari800, and the ST the sucessor to the C64, a bit of a flip-flop.
