After years of development, Half-life2 is finally out. I doubt i'll see it in any stores (small crappy town) but I could get it off of steam right now if I wanted. Unfortunate for me, I have no cash... <_<

*sits and waits for a crack to be released*

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this...unlike Doom 3, HL2 is a scaleable game and you change the graphics settings to suit your PC. So as long as you bought your PC in the last couple of years you should be fine...no need to upgrade to the latest processor and GFX card if you don't want to.

Going to play it but in no hurry to play it although im really am looking forward to playing it. I Just got a few games for my cube so want to complete those first as im having losts of fun playing them, and don't want to start playing another game at the mo, you can't really enjoy a game if your playing too many different ones at the same time.

So although i know my machine can handle it at 1024x768 with lots of eye candy think i will save it till around January anyways when i will be totally rebuilding my current to at least 64bit 4200+ spec with a high end pci express gfx card.. and then watch it fly.. :p

Blimey, I think Skysnapper is going to be disappointed.. I mean you've not included any wings or a rotor on that thing - No way is it going to fly without at least one of those... And the range'll be pathetic, unless you get a REALLY long extension cable....

Minimum system requirements
700mhz P3/celeron or AthlonXP or equivilant
128 megs SDRAM or faster ( 256+ required )
any DirectX 6.0 compatable card

and youll get good gameplay, but don't expect it to play like it does on the demo movies if you run that
so..
everyone should get Half Life 2 cause it works on almost any machine, and its only 45 bucks max, higgest price ive seen
I cant wait to try it out on my 6800gt tho... thats why I bought it, Doom 3, Farcry, Morrowind 2, and Half Life 2

o ya, dont go PCI express yet, they dont have a real advantage, but they will in the next series of gfx cards

I know, but im going to upgrade everything including the gfx card so i may as well go pci express to future proof myself.. my current set up has lasted me 2 years very nicely, in fact i don't really need to upgrade as it still runs very nicely but i want the current contents to go into a nice media box for under the telly.. all that will survive is the case and the geek in me is having withdrawl syptoms as i haven't bought any pc bits in absolutely ages :p

Doom 3 actually had really low system requirements, and ran very well on low end hardware. screen shot of doom3 running on voodoo 2...

"According to Mr. Newell then, the minimum machine specs for decent performance on H-L 2 will be a 1.2GHz CPU with 256MB RAM, Win 98/ME/2000/XP and a DirectX 7 capable graphics card. As you well realise such a box would not do justice to the various graphical wonders of the game so Mr. Newell was quick to add the recommended system specs which are as follows: a 2.4 GHz CPU with 512MB RAM, Windows 2000/XP and a DirectX 9 graphics card."

I stand corrected. Both games can be scaled :D

Well, can`t play it yet since I started installing it about two hours ago, and this steam shit is still unlocking the game files for about half an hour, and before I had to wait for the key verification.

I don`t know what made Valve do this steam shit, but i hate it like hell and I just want to beat the crap out of the steam inventors. <_<

I just have about 75 % loaded, and i will have to wait much longer...

I want to play it now!!!!!!!!!!!! NOWNOWNOWNOWNOW!!!!!!
Anybody else has this problems? Or can anyone explain this shit to me? Is it ever going to finish?

I`m going to break down soon...

its because of the problems they had with the leak , it was gonna be release this time last year , but leak pushed the release date back 1 year O_O there attempting to remove the factor of cracked version , but since ive been playing cracked CS:S for about 4 weeks , im just gonna wait for cracked HL2

I can't play either game. My Celeron 500 is firmly stuck in the past.

Also, I can't see why anyone would want to play through Doom 3 on a Voodoo 2. Seriously, that looks like ass. Yuck.

My computer sux too, and I hate playing games with a keyboard and a computer anyway. I guess I will wait for the Xbox version.

NO GAME WITHOUT RIGISTRATION!

is it true that you can't play HL2 if you aren't register?
I heared that you have to be registered in the internet or call them to register you
to play the game.
They do that because of pirate copys!!

But i life in germany. maybe it's just in some countrys. don't know.....

i was in gamestation today and theres a note on the desk

to play HL2

You MUST have an internet connection to activate your game
because of this
you CANNOT part exchange or return HL2 (unless faulty)
