New NES emu i think

there really is no point to this emu, but still nice to see people hard at work with gp32 stuff

Why not? The original windows version of infones has many problems with a lot of roms and if Rlyeh hasn't changed (or greatly improved) the emu core, roms that doesn't work with infones could work with this new emu. Also, AFAIK, a programmer is working on a port of Nester emu.

excellent job just played arkaniod @ 100% with sound at fs3 thanks fs2 is like 90% with sound. most of the games play at 100% fs3. only the action games need more frameskip

out of interest whats the appeal of the NES - sure it had a few ugly mario and zelda games(zelda sucks) but it was never big in the UK - Sega Master System ruled the roost here

Ya know, I was one of the rare Americans who owned a Master System and NOT a NES! I had an Amiga, and so I decided to skip the NES. When the Master System came out I got that because I thought it would be like having an NES with slightly better graphics.

Well, the SMS has slightly better graphics, but it's not as good as owning an NES.

I can only say that now many years later, because thanks to emulation I've been able to try nearly every game made for both systems. And in terms of sheer numbers of quality games, the NES has an endless supply. Everything from classic arcade conversions, to action, platformers, adventure, RPG, shooters... Just tons and tons of really good games with some decent 8bit graphics and sound.

So while I do respect the good games the SMS has, it just can't compare in terms of numbers. And so many NES games were exclusives, stuff like Kirby, Megaman, Castlevanias, Zelda, Final Fantasy etc. - SMS owners missed out on many great games.

And that's why people are excited by NES on GP32. :) Cuz it means a HUGE library of great games added to the list of stuff us lucky GP32 owners can play. It's mind-blowing - you can probably fit 500 NES games on an SMC! =P Or more?!

Yeah, please fix the news! It's unfair to Yoyo to have that misreported. It has sound and it's really good too - even digitized effects work on many games! You just have to lower frame skipping, but there's some excellent sound emulation going on!

I'm very impressed by this emu, if he can speed it up it would be awesome. The save/load state support is flawless and fast, just perfect. Every emulator should have such a great save/load state support. :p

With this and fNES32 coming along, the GP32 will have NES covered really well. And I LIKE having multiple emus - to the guy who said this emu has no reason because of fNES32, I disagree completely. There's always room for competing projects - it keeps things interesting.

BTW - what's the advantage of GXB over FXE? Is there a reason why one would choose to compile one over the other?

perfect nes and snes would be the icing on the cake for me in terms of the GP32.

They were the two consoles I had when I was a wee lad, and I would deerly love to lose yet more endless hours playing these classic games again.

IT'S A CRACKER!

Hi everyone,

Just to clear things up a bit

AFAIK, yoyo started working on his LJGP32 Nes emulator only severa weeks ago. We first heard of it on 22/05 over at GP32News.com (in true "out of the blue" fashion).

His choice was to port Nofrendo's 6502 core. Then he started porting PocketNester (yes he's also the one who's porting Nester). He's now working on both those port simultaneously (both are functionnal, LJGP32 being the most advanced, with much ARM ASM rewriting on the way)

Lately, he announced he was reworking the existing Wonderswan emu (directly from Oswan sources)
He said today he's expecting a beta release soon.

So yes, that guy is working on 3 emus at a time, and pretty fast IMO. Kudos to him B)

Its been said already, but I'm adding my voice to the crowd - truly great emu; well done yoyo :) (and only a few weeks?!? My friend, you be fast...)

I look forward to seeing what happens with this one :)
