Well, the election is coming up, and even though it won't effect me or any other non-US citizens as directly, it sure as hell is going to effect us one way or another.

Well what do you think? I'm aware that the Democrats and Republicans aren't that different, this election seems to be causing alot of fuss. While I personally would be very happy to see the back of Bush, the whole Democrat vote seems to be coming from 'anyone but Bush' and not on the merits of Kerry. Not to mention the fact that he seems tottally devoid of charisma, on the other hand his running buddy Edwards seems to be oozing with it.

I would of thought that the best tactic would of been to get Hillary Clinton to run, even if it meant cutting her current cuties short. She said she may run next election; but why not bring out the big guns for Bush?

Well, I'd like to hear what you think, and please don't just randomly bash Bush or Kerry, as the thread will most likely get locked, as it will eventually turn into flaming.

I wouldn't like to see Bush in again, but I'm not too sure on Kerry.

By the looks of it Bush will be voted back in again.

I think Bush will end up winning, no matter how much i dislike this i feel it to be an inevitibility. I wont forget after their debates the other week when one young american woman was aksed what she thought and who she was going to vote for she said this:

"I thought Bush sounded stupid and looked like an idiot but im still gonna vote for him"

Kerry isn't really going to be that much better in all honesty and he looked just as bad in the debate, but hes the closest to snatching the presidancey than anyone else is i believe.

Shame people dont all turn round and vote for a third party candidate. Kinda reminds me of that simpsons episode where Kang and Kodos are running for presidential election disguised as Clinton and Bob Doll and then when they do get found to be aliens one of them says. "yes you're still going to have to vote for one of us" and i think someone from the crowd shouts "we could vote for a third party candidate" to which one of them replies "and waste your votes."

He's the leader of the Green Party, although they really are helping Bush. If Nader hadn't of stood last time Al Gore would have got the votes (in theory) and would be sitting in the Whitehouse now. Of course, Nader sees the Democrats and Republicans as being one party with two faces (which they actually used to be) so would not stand down for the sake of them.

It was about a month ago I believe when certain states weren't allowing Nader to stand (something to do with a debatable quota) and it had to go to court. He was allowed to stand, and neo-conservitive judges made the ruling-meaning that the 'left' will be divided, and the solid vote go to the right-just like in the last French election.

Noam Chomsky, Micheal Moore etc. are also backing Kerry for a change.

EDIT: Aimed at Goity....

I am personally for Kerry as Bush has created a HUGE debt, made the rest of the world angry at us, got us into a pointless war that we can't win and is arrogant enough not to admit he made a mistake.

Not that this a flame or anything. ;)

Sadly Kerry is completely lacking in charisma so Bush will probably win.

Too true, Kerry should have Edwards speak out in public more.

BTW: Do you get the US presidential debates in the UK?

This isn't true. Nader is running as Reform party candidate this time. David Cobb is the Green leader.

Naturally I would like to see Badnarik win, but that is never going to happen.

Between Kerry and Bush, I kinda hope Bush wins. I suspect whoever wins the next election will be fairly screwed (by the economy / spending / Iraq) and so it'd be amusing for Bush to have to deal with it. If Kerry wins (and does a relatively poor job, as the situation would seem to indicate) then the Republicans will continue to be strong in Congress, and we'll get another Republican President in 2008.

Whos that The Termi Nader?

I think Saddam should stand to get himself out of death row.

Voted for Bush. The odds are in his favour, and the voting population very slow to change. But there's still a lot left in it.

I believe one was broadcast live, not that I watched it! But there's plenty of coverage on the news.

Though Kerry isn't the ideal candidate, he couldn't possibly be any worse than Bush, so I hope he wins. Plus if the Americans re-elect Bush, they'll lose what little respect the rest of the world still has for them.

Yes they are shown on BBC1 but it is about 2am our time when they are live, I still watched though.

I'd just love to see the 3rd man get elected, can you imagine the chaos if everyone voted for Nader? Ha. Whole new regime change.

I find american politics very corrupt, not on a global scale but on a western world scale. I think the UK has a much more fair system.

Between Bush and Kerry i'd go with Kerry, he just seems more intelligent and like he would actually think things though.

I am an American and I hate to say that most of my countrymen are a bit "thick in the cranium". I can't see how this is even close, Kerry should be winning by 90% in the polls right now. Bush is just terrible, he has failed at just about everything foreign and domestic. He is pompous, errogant, pig-headed, and a big liar, and those are his good points. Kerry is better than he seems from the debates I think and his administration would be much more open to, and willing to work with, the rest of the world. Bush thinks (or at least acts like) the USA is the only country in the world that matters and that everyone else is second rate. I am ashamed of him as our president. Kerry is more humble and is smarter than that. Sadly I think Bush is going to win though. I will vote for Kerry but I think I am out numbered. The one thing though is the rest of the world will have the last laugh, as it is US that will be stuck with Bush for 4 more years.... Sorry, I guess this sounds like a flame, I can't help myself :(    :( excuse me, I have to go puke...

I'll be honest, I didn't know that at all. I'll look that up.

EDIT: It appears that you are right, although I'm yet to find the reasons behind this.

I heard that too, although there is a theory that he dumbs himself down in order to win the vote of the uneducated electorate.

Any president that goes after the intelligent man that was Mega-Clinton will be seen as less inteligent.
