Hi guys
I'm not able to get Supertux, Duke 3d, N64 emulator and some other applications working on my pyra as yet. I've followed the instructions on how to install them etc but they fail to load up. I've manage to get streets of rage remake and PS1 emulator working but only in window mode. I know its early days in the software development and its going to take time.

Also how do i install firefox onto it as Ive seen evil dragon making a video of the Pyra showing internet browsing.

Why cant everything be straight forward as the Pandora.
Any help is appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the Early Days Pyra experience:
Dit you allready install some updates?
Sudo apt update , sudo apt upgrade in the Terminal may do the trick,
Then you basically need to install OpenGL,
The best place for Software might be the program named synaptic which you find in the start menue, there you can use the search function and then chose the right program and your language files..
Whit Gl4es at least the N64 Emulator should work..

Some of the older DBP might not work , but I don’t got them to work either

how do i install firefox

There is a program called synaptic in debian you can see in that program a list of all the stuff you can install and what is installed. (you can find firefox in those lists and install).

For your programs not working you have to do an update (of the lists in synaptic) and than an upgrade (so all the new things will be installed). This is a more general linux way of doing things. However linux people will do it in the command line via "sudo apt update" followed by "sudo apt upgrade" and they install via "sudo apt install <package name>" and see the list van "apt list". I dont have a pyra handy and do this by head so it might be wrong...

Edit: That or read matzesu's post who has a pyra :D

sudo apt-get install firefox-esr

If you prefer Chromium:

sudo apt-get install chromium

I dont want to derail but there is a difference between apt-get and apt, and Im not sure which one to use, but it was adviced to not mix both. (not sure which one synaptic uses, behind the scenes)

Thanks for the super quick response people. This is the sort of info people like me who are noobs to these sort of things need to setup this new device.
I've manged to install the latest updates etc through the terminal and installed firefox and its all working.. I did a search for OpenGL through Synaptic but got a list of hundred different files matching that name , so I dont really know which one to pick.

apt-get and apt are two different front-end for the same functionality, you can use any one as you prefer, apt is more user-friendly
They may give you different proposal in complex cases, which may be a reason to try one or the other (or aptitude, or synaptic), but in the end everything ends in the same dpkg database.

Actually, that's wrong. apt-get only covers a fracture of the functionality of apt, as it wasn't designed to be an universal front-end but a specialized tool with limited functionality.
Yeah for sure, easiest example of this was just simple searches.

before this new apt command to search for debian packages you had to run a separate command.
Code:
sudo apt-cache search whatever

There are a half dozen other commands that this consolidates, so this new apt is handy. However the older commands still have uses, for example apt-cache has better formatting if you want to grep info out or use it in scripts.
