Just finished Fable after 6 hours 12 minuites. I was just getting into it!!! Sure I didnt do all of the sub challenges, but from an RPG this hyped I expected just a little more.....

Isn't it still very playable after finishing everything? I never played it but heard reviews, but yeah still short.

36hrs into Tales of Symphonia and just got onto disc 2.. yay

I never really subscribed to the length = quality school of thought. If a game has a sttory that it wants to tell there is no point extending the gameplay by adding lots of basically pointless sub-quests and the like (Final Fanasy VII did it a little with thos almost impossible creatures after Sephiroth, though they were at least optional). Two of my favourite games of recent times Prince of Persia and Beyond Good & Evil were both very short, but thye were satisfying.

I think basically, if the game is short but good then its acceptable (at least you can return it!). I would prefer to see a good story well told in a short space of time rather than a thin weak story spread of multiple disks. Although, for what it's worth, for an RPG six hours is seriously pushing it.

Did you enjoy it though?

I really enjoyed Fable for the time it lasted, some games are just too long. Even so considering how long it took to make they could have written a bit more plot.

I don't think FFVII had pointless sub-plots, I really enjoyed trying to find everything it has to offer, that's one of the main reason I consider it to be such a classic.

no, you misunderstand. The only bit that I didn't like about FFVII was the monsters at the end. You could onl beat them if you were a stupidly high level which meant a lot of boring wandering around waiting to level up. Everything else in that game was classic. one of my all time favourite games in fact.

I loved KOTOR thats why I'm lookin foward to Jade Empire aswell. Fable was too short and too small considering the time they took on it.

Actually I just picked up KOTOR for the Xbox today have played it for about three hhours already, its very cool so far. Though what is it with RPG's and card games?!?! Every RPG I play seems to have some form of card game in it.

Incidently, if you want a RPG thats original and long as hell, try morrowwind and it's expansions. The most kick ass game EVER. I've played it for fourty hours thus far and I'm not even near finishing anything. Sandbox games are the best, w00t!!

I thought you could do (but do not need to) 1 billion things in Fable? Replay value is important too.

Some games present optional challenges that can greatly increase the length of the game. A good example is Lufia 2 - you can beat the game in roughly 5-6 hours, yet the optional stuff can push it up to 60+ hours.

Well... you could marry 10 different women or slaughter an entire town, but there's not really much point. I might replay it again to be evil but the plot is still basically the same.

is the fighting sytem good, a cross between realtime and turn based

coz I despise turn based games (short attention span) but I love games like Zelda and Shenmue
