OK ive tried to encode videos for the past week now and the closest ive gotten is actually getting vdub to finish the encoding, but now i try to play it on GPcinema and it just keeps rebooting my GP32

does anybody know what im doing wrong please tell me :(

video/filters/resize set to 320x240 (320x172 for widescreen)
video/frame rate/decimate by 2
video/compression/XviD with 192 kbps, 1 pass cbr

audio/full processing mode
audio/conversion/44100hz, high quality checked
audio compression/mp3 codec: check "show all formats" 4KB/s 22,050Hz mono

That should be it... don't think I forgot anything

OK ok i tried many different settings and have succesfully made conversions of my video files and test them out on my PC to see if they work via Windows Media Player, but when and after i transfer them to my GP32, the GP32 would just take me to some GP32 bios monitor screen after trying to load the movie.

PLease Please help me what am i doing wrong?

on the GPcinema menu the file settings for my video is :

Play Time 0:22:56
226 kbit/sec

320x176 15 frame
194 kbit/sec

11025 Hz Stereo
32 kBit/sec

 this is so frustrating

are you sure you're using the right codec? I use the XviD one from GP32eu.com... works well for me.

Edit: also, you might want to try a guaranteed file to make sure it is the encoding that's the problem, though it probably is. See the second link in my sig.

yeah i tried to put my encoded videos alone. and it would just reboot. but then i downloaded a Matrix movie cartoon thing and then that would play and then i would load my encoded video and it would only play the audio but the video was all scrambled and stuff all i could see were just some nice colored squares. :(

vid codec problem most likely. Are you using xvid or divx? if dvx make sure its 4 and not 5.

ok i was wondering what frame rate you would use for a TV show?

Whatever you want. Higher decimation=lower frame rate=smaller file. At the same time, you can have low decimation and it would look better, but you'd have a big file

ok i already solved this problem as i found out that i was just using the wrong codec to encode the files. and i have now found the right xvid codec to encode the files.

everything is now running fine and it doesnt reboot or give me the funny looking squares anymore. if anybody else is having the problem i once was i am totally willing to do anything i can to help you out. just give me a PM or something

oh ant BTW thanks to all who helped lead me into the right direction
