It won't be, only thing is, that you'll need some skills in making PCBs. You could ofcourse let a company do it. And if you're really good, you could make it a floating one. The circuitry is centered around a MAX641. Which is a step-up converter based on induction. This little device turns 1.2v to 3.6v (abouts, I don't have the datasheet handy, I'll look it up later) into 5v, stable. The external component count is minimal. It's basically an inductor, capacitor, and a transistor. The PCB will therefor be very small. Also, the MAX641 is available in DIL package. (The chip with the large pins, you solder it through the PCB, instead of surface mounted stuff).

k, I just went and got myself the components (aside from the chip, which is coming by mail), so I should be able to make this thing in a few days time.

Would you mind upping your compiled web server somewhere? Saves me the trouble of compiling it myself. And what options did you set under USB Ethernet, just the one driver, or all of the drivers? If you did all of the drivers, mind upping that along with it? Else I'll just build the kernel myself. (Now that I know how, it's quite fun actually ;))

Yes, system info is a simple cgi.
People who want to get the web server stuff can download usr.sqf on the gp32 server.

We need to provide a zImage + filesystem with auto loading of needed usb drivers modules. Now, you need to choose the right usb devices you have to compile them into the kernel.

Be carefull: max641 can only deliver 50mA. Many USB devices are consuming more than 50mA.
Normally, USB port must support as much as 500mA.
