Os9xgp-0.3beta Is Out!

Can't get it to work. Downloaded here and YoYo's page and it's the same.
If I use Pacrom it says 'failed' at the bottom, if I use windups it goes to the bios monitor. If I try free launcher it doesn't show up!! Any ideas anyone?????

Also tried the obvious and changed the batteries for a fresh set

well, i noticed a few things:
1. It crashes when I try to load it with YAFL 0.3. Not sure why, but it does. It doesn´t crash when I load it with the eurofw and Aquafishs Zodlike launcher.

2. It has the same ammount of free memory as the 0.2 version had. So does this mean no real transparency support? I guess it does.

i think so, too. there are also not 2 versions he has spoken of the whole time, and theres no option to turn transparency off or something like that (only those hacks).

that 2 mode thing was meant to be in 0.5 since that what he was skipping to, but since he dosnt have time, he decided to go to 1.3, but since he has even less time, he releced a beta of 0.3, s think of it as 0.2.5

Tetris Attack is now full speed without sound!
Hmmm, well it seems like we have different understandings of fullspeed.
I just tried it, and without sound (to bad since the sound is really good in this game) is it about playable... no where near full speed. On my GP at 166Mhz the maximum fps I get are about 12fps. With FS2 it is playable but really a bit slow.

Or is my version just messed up?

Why hasn't Yoyo's website been updated with a news post and why isn't it (OS9XGP 0.3) in the downloads section on his site either?
Errmm... refresh your cache, it IS on Yoyo's site :)

Super Mario RPG doesnt seem to work
it's been talked over a THOUSAND times, Mario RPG uses the Super-FX chip which the GP32 can't handle emulating.
Actually, it's the SA-1 chip, which is basically a 65c816 (SNES main CPU) on steroids. As long as we've already got an ASM version of that, it should at least be feasible. ThunderZ has also stated that it should be playable with the ASM core, if it can first be made compatible. (from one of Hooka's interviews IIRC)

I agree with DaveC, sound is the greatest about retro gaming, exspecially on the SNES.

I would go as far as saying the sound is 60% of the fun concerning old school gaming.

Btw are there any plans to update the PCengine emu? That one is really the best emu currently on the GP32... the sound on R-Type is nothing short of spectacular :p Savestates would make my day ;)
Try the sound on the PC-engine Parodius, it is awesome. Actually though the sound on the SNES version is even better. But when sound on SNES is not practical the PC-Engine is the next best thing. The thing I was most looking forward to from a SNES emu update was the ability to play more games with sound due to the faster core.

Not that I'm ungrateful but after 8 months of waiting and no noticeable improvement in speed with sound is dissapointing.

You ARE ungrateful. But no worries; I read that he was to release the source code.

Then, you could improve it yourself.

Well he is right KOTD.

I know that you might want to play your favorite games with sound, but hey, this man has as much of a life as you and I, and is doing stuff we could never dream of doing, and doing it for us, and doing it for free!

Yoyo is a hero of the GP32 community for giving us all such a treasure.

Unless you are a SEGA fanboy :p

No I understand I just said after 8 months it was slightly dissapointing. If you look how awesome 0.2 was compared to 0.1 and it was released I think 2 weeks after. Than you get my drift. No offense to yoyo as there never was. 0.2 still was the best update I've seen.......

I whine too much don't take any notice :p
