Where to buy men's skirts in Berlin?

I'm looking for a skirt, but I'd prefer to go to a shop and try some on. Or, if that's not possible, to have it tailored, but have take the tailor the measurements, for I'm not confident about taking the correct measurements correctly. (I'm not one for sending stuff back and forth.)

I know, I could visit a gothic store and leave with skirts, but when I once was looking for tartan trousers, I deemed them having poor quality stuff - good enough for the stage maybe, but no serious all-day-clothing. Plus, they are kind of overdoing it, when it comes to making sure the skirts don't look feminine.

There are utility kilts, but those IMHO don't look that dashing, when you drop the beltline to just below the belly, and that's where I'd have it.

And no, I'm not after a more feminine look - I'm fed up with running around with hard-boiled eggs all day in this weather.

So, if anyone knows a shop in Berlin, that carries sincere skirts designed for men, or a tailor, who'd know how to go about it, I'd love to know.

just had a read at

it looks really cool. don't know where to get 'em but i like this style.
when there is a shop selling these in germany, then you should find one in berlin, i would guess.

I don't think a proper scottish kilt is what you're after in this heat. They're made for cold wet windswept moorland, although that's probably more the case for the full kilt which wraps around the upper body as well, traditionally worn over a loose shirt. The skirt only kilt is a modern invention, but still retains the heavy woolen material which keep you warm in winter (and in a usual scottish summer for that matter)

What did David Beckham wear that time; was it called a sarong?

I'd think so, too. But trying duckduckgo almost only yields blogs, news, forums going on about this controversial topic - couldn't care less, I just want to free my balls :)

These look nice, too:

(The site seems to have a bug - when asked for credentials, just cancel.)

@Wally That's cool - do that. Though I live here, I work 9 to 6 - in the end of the day I can't bother drifting aimlessly through Berlin in hopes of randomly finding myself in front of a store the desired kind. Berlin covers a lot of area.

@levi You suppose correctly. Got myself a modern kilt from Union Kilts last year. Just one at the lowest pricepoint to get a grip on the sizes. Well, I went two inches too slim as it turned out, but I could close it and wore it on my way from work home. I learned, something tight you were up to the belly button keeps you warm good - especially things with such thick fabrics layered. I got home wet on that warm, sunny day :)

I know of somebody that makes sarongs, but pretty sure he is on the wrong continent, plus they may not be masculine enough for you.

Good luck.

@rygD I see nothing wrong with sarongs. But you're right. It's not, what I want for myself.
And, thanks.

Not if he is looking for something to keep cool. Tropical and desert regions are the best places to look for garments that meet his requirements.

Shoot, I was gonna make a joke about a man wearing a skirt and being cool at the same time, but it's 2018 now, so I guess it's possible.

Darn kids. Back in my day, we wore sunglasses at night to stay cool, and it was highly effective.

Maybe going to scotland would be a better idea?

Ah, now I get it. I've misread it as "moving to Scotland. Which would have made more sence ;)

I'd need a foldable pair of shades and it needed to be rather huge, if I wanted to keep my dignity.

Moving to Scotland would also work. I probably would if I could. Deserts are nice, too.

For they are dry? In Vegas I happely walked under the sun in long, very loose, black cloths - at noon in the summer. It was 48 deg C. Here, I get drenched in a tank top, shorts and sandals at 29 deg C.

Yeah, dry heat is great as long as you keep yourself hydrated and eat once in a while. I like the landscape.

The shop I'd have recommended in Berlin closed a few years ago (Noctemwear). They always ordered stuff you wanted to have so you could try it on and you could always decide against it then.

I have a good long men's skirt I often wear since it doesn't look feminine, is sturdy and has pockets (!), but by now you can only get it in sex shops like Orion for some reason if you're lucky.
Since i have no interest in going through all the fetish stuff, I'd just order it online and change the size if necessary, either by replacement or altering the actual thing, like I do occasionally with clothes.
