are there any emulators for the psx? like snes or mega drive emus that work well? i was just wondering because ive just started getting back into my chipped playstation again and since theres some emus for the dreamcast there must be some for the playstation?

The NES emu, It Might Be NES, is excellent and I think it is better than the Dreamcast NES emus as it seems a bit smoother and faster. Haven't tried the GB one though.

thats quite dissapointing........obviously comparing the ps1 to the dc was a bit lame but i was thinking that surely since the gp32 has got a snes and megadrive emu the ps1 might have one.

The dreamcast scene is just a bit faster than the gp in terms of emulation. Only the dreamcast has neogeo cd emulation. And even sega saturn I heard somewhere :S, but I've not tried that yet.

There's an illegal megadrive emulator that works full speed fine, but some people complain about sound problems. I've never had trouble with it though.

Basically, all 8bit is full speed. 16 bit is getting there and there are some other interesting emulators. If you want a bit better emulation than the gp on your tv, then the dreamcast is what you should get.

I remember you were looking into a chipped xbox a while ago, as was I. But I couldn't afford one (and it would be a bit pointless as I have a ps2 anyway), so I got a dc (which it looks like you're doing the same).

But I hardly ever use the emulators on the dreamcast now, as the dreamcast is a perfect dreamcast emulator :). Boots cds without a chip so if you feel like buying a load of games, then downloading them so it's nice and legal. Then the backups will work fine.

Dreamcast has some kick ass games :D.

You can pick a second hand one up for £20 now from Game in Scunthorpe, I expect it is the same elsewhere. My old one broke and I got another. I don't regret it.

yeah i was looking into a modded xbox since it seemed like the ultimate gaming machine but i bought a cd player instead. one of my mates has a dc so i could pick that up cheap i think............

i was looking around the internet for ps games today then i thought maybe the ps has some good emulators but turns out it doesnt.

ps1 got 66 mhz and the gp32 got 133(166 if clocking)
ps2 got genesis and snes emus though

I have an XBOX modded, and yes its own gamin potential aside, it's an excellent emulation system, tons of emulators including PSX.

PSX on its own, has an nice 3d risc processor( I think that's what they call it -- I'm not good with technical terms), but it's over all performance and processor speed is lower than the GP32.

ive tryed snes and megadrive emus on ps2 there quite good. Oh and i was selling a dc on ebay but seems the guy isnt paying for it now. so let me know if your interested and i could meet you so you could save on postage coz your in edinburgh are you not ? <_<

I'm playing pgen on the ps2 right now :). Trying to figure out how to upload roms to the hard disk... I can save to the hard disk fine though. If anyone knows how could they pm me please :).

Just save up and get an Xbox.

Mine has a 120gb HD and SNES, Genesis, Nes etc all work perfectly.

psx emulation is brilliant, N64 is great.

then there is Amiga, GBA etc etc. (plus so many more)

plus it can do so much more.

The ps2 is quickly catching up at the moment :). Which is great. And perfect ps1 "emulation".

The xbox is 10 times better on the homebrew side at the moment though. If only more things were open source for the ps2 (like the divx player :()

woah, I just realised why the DC is awesome, might have to get one, but umm, ya, how good is the best psx emu and do I need a mod chip to play emus like the other consoles?
and whats the best forums in english for emus and stuff on the DC like emulation?
kinda like gp32x is for gp32, is there a _________ for DC?

~Octavious

might have to get one of these and then put a PS One screen on it.....
