As it says, how do I get movies onto the thing?
These are all probably really basic questions but I'm not a computer person really!

Yea, youve gotta encode them using a program called virtualdub (very easy to find, just google it) which seems a bit daunting to some bit is not all that difficult. There are a number of tutorials available (i'de provide you with some links but their all on my laptop- sorry). Juts google or search these boards (prob would wanna do the latter though) for tutorials. If you dont have a cardreader and are using windows xp use gpdrive to transfer your files (youll swear by it once youve tried it) b/c pclink is REALLY slow.

first of all make sure that the free version of GPcinema is in the gpmm directory in your SMC card.
Then get virtual dub and the Xvid codec.
And encode an avi file using the Xvid codec (using virtuadub).
There are guides how to do this some where on the net.
If this doesn't help ask the people here.
Place the AVI file in the Movies directory in your SMC card (It doesn't matter where this directory is).

thanks for the help and from the sarcastic reply...nice to know all computer people aren't sad nerds....

goto www.gp32emu.com and they have some nice guides there.

You need the gp32 xvid codec, so don't just google it.

Get everything on www.gp32eu.com , under utilities tab on the top

It has
Virtualdub with gp32 configuration (just load settings, gp32.vfd under file menu)
XVID for gp32
GPCINEMA free version

If you are going from dvd to gp32,
use smartripper 2.41 (google it)
and get virtualdub mod! (it can read dvd files directly after smartripper)

Most of the tutorials expect the file is already divx/avi.

Use this setup for dvds.

Nice to have you join us.
