I thought that this site would be drowning in screenshots of the new BLU in action, since alot of you lucky bastards already got yours. But for some reason there is nary a pic.

Maybe someone could post some good screenshots of various games and emus running on the BLU? Could care less about the box etc, we've seen that already. I preordered mine but it was just sent out so I can't post anything. This would be cool for us BLU deprived and would also help someone that is trying to decide if they want one or not.

Also some shots comparing the FLU to BLU would be cool. I know there was a pic of this somewhere on a Spanish site but the photos were dodgy.

Thanks :)

They (Futura-Online) got my zip code mixed up, and now my BLU is in... Hawaii.

They claim it'll be here tomorrow - who knows. I'm guessing Saturday at this point.

I'll post some nice pics, then.

Well I could take some screenshots now if you want but seeing as its night ill either have to take them far away so I dont get a reflection from the flash or really close up with the light from the backlight
What would you prefer?

Don't use the flash, disable it in your camera's menu. Also don't take the pic in complete darkness. I know that sounds strange but it tends to over expose the screen. Take the pics with normal ambient room lighting.

Take pics w/backlight on, as that is what the new feature is. you may wan't to pause the games that you photo so that there is no blurring.

ok i just took some more pics. I wouldnt call the light in my room "ambient" cos ive got one of those crappy neon bulbs that makes all photos turn out orange.

Oh well here htey are at least, and sorry about the blurriness but i have very unsteady hands (just think of it as ozzy osbourne trying to hold a camera)

Earthworm jim in a megadrive emulator
Gameparks official mp3 player (Gpmad seems to play mp3s too slow, I should really tell the developer/s about it)
Day of the tentacle in scummvm, great game but it wont allow me to load my savestates
This picture isnt quite as fuzzy. Zelda1
zelda1 intro screen fading out
And probably the best picture because i actually managed to hold the camera still is of super mario bros 3. It really shows the clarity of the blu screen

Awesome Chris they look great. Thanks much for taking the time to take share those.

One thing I notice is that the blacks are so deep and the colors are so rich compared w/the FLU.

Also the lighting is very even across the screen. WOW the BLU is really nice. Slap a glass screen in there and it is done.

A few notes about the pics:

IMHO the "zelda1 intro screen fading out" is the sharpest steadiest one and really shows off the true LCD detail and contrast.

There is moire' on some of the pictures but that won't be in the real thing. A camera's CCD and an LCD are fixed pixel devices, when pics are taken like this you will get some noise, "screen door" effect due to the way the pixels interact.

It is hard to keep cameras motionless when taking pictures close. The blurring is not from the screen itself.

Thanks again for those :)

That line actually looks like he cought the screen refreshing. When a screen fades out it refreshes the whole screen to darker and darker colors. Since this emus screen isn't double buffered and the shutter of the camera cought it. You won't see that though as it happens fast. It is kind of like in some emus when the screen scrolls you will notice some slight ripple or tearing.

I thought it might have been the BLU's version of the trapezoid effect.

BTW, more pics please! Try to include some of the new USB cable and the new jack on the GP32. Some pics of the intros of FFVI and SOM would be pretty good too, along with other snes games. You can never have enough pics :D

It is not in any of the other pics so it is not a screen defect. It is just "fade out strobe". You can kind of see that when playing the game as a slight "strobe" like effect as the image fades. Most older games will do that, even the real hardware.

The trapezoid effect is caused by the ribbing on the light distributor and the inner reflections. Ths GBA SP has trapezoid too. Backlit displays don't have the ribbing.

I would like to see what DOOM II would look like on the BLU, that was always kind of dark on my GP32.

I'm personally looking forward to playing Castaway which I always thought looked too dark on my FLU. I think the better colour saturation and contrast ratio will do wonders for it :D

holy hell, man

that thing actually looks kinda damned.. SWEET.

hmm might have to pick one up, if the price/battery life ain't too bad.

and if my job situation gets better. otherwise happily stick w/ my FLU!
