P.S. That post probably seems a bit extreme to compare to this scenario. allessandro's flaming may seem mild but it's his reason, which he was fair enough to give.

Oh, and spray. Shut up, you've made your point.

o but i haven't

my point would have been made when people read what i had to say, read the original post then thought all by themselves that this guy is creating a mountain out of a mole hill

as a result of this guys leaving we have people predicting the end of the scene and saying how bad stuff has got and how devs shouldn't have to put up with stuff like this.

you'll find that in my first reply i stated how it was bad to lose someone with talent from the scene and how he'll be missed.

but if it annoys you to see someone going against the grain and thinking for themselves, i will happily leave this issue be.

the comments weren't rude, out of line or mean in any shape or form.

people pointed out we're not a zodiac board, that there is a very active one on another site and that he should try that.

people are saying as he is a dev we should have given him more time. this doesn't make sense, hardly anyone knew the answer to his question, the rest of us acting as helpfully as we could sent him to zodiacgamer, without flaming, belittling or being rude.

i personally think its pathetic to leave a community over something so stupid (which hes blown out of total proportion by himself) and so very very insignificant, he obviously couldn't depart quietly, thundering around stating we won't see any of his other projects.

does it all just boil down to bruised ego?

Yeah, pretty much. We pissed off someone and he left the scene. Difference is the guy was a coder and is now witholding his projects out of spite. It wasn't a flame but there were a lot of redundant comments and eyerolling. He took it personally. I don't blame him.

Alessandro, I haven't tried your projects so much but I think you should really think about releasing what you have. Intellecto, despite his hard work, was hated because the project was never open-sourced and could never be continued. Yoyo had to redo it from scratch. By witholding this stuff you are just creating extra work for some poor guy who probably has no beef with you.

The majority of the community, in fact, has no problem with you and is glad for your contributions. It's a pity you ran into some of the more vocal ones, but it's totally understandable that this turned you off the scene. The actions of some of the members in this forum turn me off as well.

Well, after reading the complete thread it is bad that another coder left the GP32 community, but I've the oppinion that, if I am really interested in a device, I wouldn't left the community because of some fools flaming around. Most coders drop scenes with this argument and it always makes me think that those people have lost the fun to develop for this devices. Just my opinion... <_<

Well... here we are.

One less coder. For whatever reasons he's done it, it's a shame. I do think that it is very unfortunate you are not going to release what you've done Alessandro. I for one have used your IDE, and found it to be one of the things that got me into GP32 coding in the first place. It seems such a waste to allow what happened to spoil it for everyone. There are a minority of people out there who will flame, provoke, whatever - especially in a forum of this size.

Unfortunately, you've allowed the minority of people to spoil it for the rest of us if you dont release your final versions or your source. Basically - they've won.

And thats never good.

Also, I feel that your post tarred us all with the same brush, and has made a comment on the whole community that really is unjustified. I am one of the many that have alweays appreciated your work, But I feel offended for everyone else by the tone of your post.

I hope you find it in yourself to help those who have supported you. If not, then that's up to you, but if you do, then I feel a lot of people would regard you with more respect for what you've decided.

Thanks for the work you've done, and good luck for the future, but please dont burn those bridges...

Sorry to see you go :(. I have a shortcut for gp32 ide on the desktop :) and have reccomended it to others. Would have been awesome to release the source but thanks for what you've done anyway B).

I concur.

After being banned from the forum for a while, I guess I should explain my actions.

I still stand by what I said, this guy was just tring to get people on a big guilt trip. I've seen it on many, many boards all over the net, and it is really quite a pathetic sight to behold. There is another programmer on the boards leaving, and he posted about it, but he was nice about it. He also RELEASED WHAT HE HAD ALONG WITH SOURCES.

I once said that most of what I say on this forum is in jest. This isn't in jest. Alessandro, you could be the most amazingly fantastic programmer in the entire universe, but it wont make shit all difference if you pull retarded shit like this.

I did read the thread and you have a valid point, I just feel you've over-stated it.

No one would blame you when looking back at the original post you made but now making comments like "pathetic" aren't very constructive. The guy's a little sensitive and I have the feeling that your on the wind-up.

...

OK ok, on reflection, I shouldn't single you out. I know your a nice guy, I just think it's better in these occasions to just let it lie.

Hypicritical? yes, maybe!

Alessandro: I guess you wont read this but... "you loose on teh inrtaweb" :(
I mean you have to be tough on boads... There are many boards out there which flame even more..

i dont even know what gp32iDE is but maybee it was cool.. so narf... dont be such a moron

So just because he's a coder he gets special treatment? I'm sorry but this is exactly what the gp32 communities turning into: ass licking galore. He posted in General talk about the GP32 right? same as other people? In the wrong forum and no I didn't see any flames in that threads. Other people got flamed for posting about the zodiac in the general talk forum. They didn't get as angry. He didn't follow the rules either. If you can't handle tame comments like that how the hell do you get through life??? Now flame me all, I can take it.

Wheeeeeeee do you all like kicking a man while he's down? Granted, there may be issues with this board being a "friendly community". But to me, when someone leaves, it's like your brother's sister's uncle's cousin's nephew's hairdresser died - you say "Too bad" and move on.

If you flame him after he leaves, ever think he'll come back? I know if I was unsure about leaving and said I was leaving, I'd be refreshing every second. Sure, maybe he just wants attention. If he comes back, we'll see him for the attention whore he really is. Or maybe maybe he was really just mad at the way he was treated. At least give the man the benefit of the doubt!

Though this may mean "he wins", I'm locking this topic before anymore flames erupt. Flame me instead if you must.
