the one under your name, azure. It was a light hearted comment that has backfired...!!

I'm not insulting anyone, am I spray, more just questioning?
It´s funny how easy things like comic can get missunderstod....

I think anyway we are sort of on the same wave length lokking at our posts... with the speed I´m typing it could easily have been me posting last. :p

Charge - can you remember if your end had 2 tiers behind the goal, or was one tier due to the rugby ground behind it?
1 tier

From what I understand you are tired of the people here flaming, annoying, and not giving any credit to you....so you are going to the ZODIAC boards. I'm sure no one will flame you there........Seriously though your better off with the Dreamcast or GBA community then.

This will be your experience with the Zodiac most likely:

1. You will buy one and in a month or two the analog won't work so you'll have to delete all your stuff on it and get a new one. Or more likely your analog will not work at all when you get it resulting in the same thing. Ask Prophet the main poster in ZodiacGamer he had to return his 3 times!!!

2. You will have to learn to develop for it which is extremely annoying if you don't have any Palm experience.

3. You will then get over that and create something. Afterwords you'll be annoyed out of your mind and say that you got flamed.

4. You will finally release your product and then be thanked and then annoyed again to release a new version.

Thats not really how the whole community is there, but I gaurantee it will be worse to tell you the truth.

Of course, you don't care about the community ever as none of your products are released open source and you have version 1.2 of your IDE on your hard drive but you won't release it even though its just a waste of time on your behalf if its not released.

Squidge is leaving and no one flamed him. Maybe its cause he cares about the community.

Anyway good luck in future projects whatever they may be.

for gods sake

ALLESANDRO WAS NOT FLAMED!

read the god damn post!

alessandro would have received the same warm sentiments as squidge had he not tried to pin the blame on someone else.

why the hell do you need to have a reason to leave anwyay? you can just as easily say you're moving to the p800!

Hi all.
Just a quick note to inform you that I'm leaving the GP32 world, to move the the P800 development...
All my projects for the GP32 (an Amiga game remake, a file manager, a text reader, and the GP32iDE) will be discontinued, due the loss of interest and the flames I got when I asked for informations about the Z... I spent days and every free minute I got working on projects for the community and when I asked an info about another env I received flames,   so I lost my nice feelings to the community.. This fact made me turn on another platform, and I decided to move to something REALLY cool.  B)

Sorry for the ones waiting for GP32IDE v1.2, but it will remain on my HD!

This is my last topic
Alessandro

I'm quitting da scene too, you BASTAARRDS! You said my program was the wrong colour! :) Oh hang on, I only just got here!
Just kidding!

Actually though I'm not really in the GP32 scene anyway, I see GP32, GBA, Zodiac, P800, P900, UIQ, N-Gage, Pocket PC as pretty much equal. Anyone else agree?
I don't dedicate any more time to one or the other, they are all just groovy portable devices. If I had to pick one it would be the GP32, just because it's the easiest to dev for. All the others have more annoynaces for whatever reason.

But seriously, please don't piss people off, like this person (I don't know who he is, but he sounds a bit miffed). Yeah I know it must feel weird, you only posted a few comments, but at the other end they do grate a bit. You've got to think about the kudos, demo writers and all theat stuff are generally doing it for the kudos of their peers, and if they get the opposite or what feels like the opposite, they (well, we) do tend to bolt!

it's hard I know, but we've lost so many people from the (PC) emu scene. (And for those who follow it, you'll know I've had my share of slagging as well, and I don't like devving FB anymore because of it.)

But that is what this thread has gone on so long about - he wasn't flamed for his output - all he did was ask a Zodiac related question which several people replied to with "Why don't you ask on the Zodiac forums?"

Not very helpful, but hardly flaming, and definitely not a good enough reason to desert the scene and tell everybody "Now you can't have my projects - so there!"...

FB as in FinalBurn?

well that was one of the best emu´s I´v ever seen..... I was so sad when you stopped working on it... (if you were the one making it).

Thank you so mouch for that emu!

guess I never got close enough to thank you... used to step by Jose Q emuwievs everyday to see if you had relesed a new ver.

Those were the days......

What? What do you expect? Us to treat people differently just because they created some projects for the GP32 instead of treating people equally
Yes, never bite the hand who feeds you, dumbass!
 Calm down there!

Anyways, I still don't think we should be acting really special towards devs because, IMO, it's kind of phony. It's like "OMG! Thanks for another free program that I don't have to pay for! Now because I want another version/program, I'll start praising you uncontrollably and let anything you do slide, just so that you'll work your ass off more to get me another free program!"

I'm not saying treat them like scums, but don't let everything slide. Like, if yoyo posted in the wrong forum or asked a n00b question that's in the sticky (Although I don't see that happening :)) I'd still tell him that he posted in the wrong forum and that he should read the sticky because he just asked a question that was answered in there.

I know what you mean, but believe me the alternative is much worse!
Given the choice between sucking up and slagging off, sucking up is MUCH better.

Personally it feels a bit weird when people start worshipping me and saying they want my babies (if it were girls would be okay though... hey though I once got an e-mail from a nurse saying she'd give me unlimited slippery blow-jobs because of FB or DGen or something... ah my if only it were a real e-mail! ;)

... but for the good of the whole sk3n3 it's much better if they do the sucking up thing instead of doing the opposite.
Oo, bad choice of phrase there 'sucking up', erm - you know what I mean. Ass-licking... oh **** that's even worse.

You know what I mean. ;)

Yeah, fdave=final dave

I was sad to quit working on it too, but it was alright in the the end: check out FBA, another team carried it on

Jose Q - I think yet ANOTHER victim of lameness over the years, I really used to love his website and now it's dead... all because of people being lame I think... So yeah, think before you post, everyone loses out in the long run :-(

yeah i liked final burn as well... wasn't that the one that did galaxy force and g-loc or something like that?

and what's gp32 IDE? integrated developer environment? damn if i was a programmer i'd want something like that! (actually the lack of is the reason i couldn't even be arsed to try... learning c is easier than f**king about with the dos prompt and then doing what other makefiles and make smc and running geepee32 and whatever else you have to do to see if it works... :( )

/me starts singing a queen song... (can you guess which one?)

take it easy allessandro. :) see ya!

EDIT: and i always thought it was fdave because you were coded by ryleh :p :p :p MUAHAHAHAHA!

Ah, come on. There are jerks in every community. Don't stop working because of those fools. If you are not interested anyways, then it's okay of course. But why should you stop you excellent effords just because some fools had got nothing to do and tried to flame you. Don't take things on boards like this so serious.

Anyways. As you don't seem to be stoppable, I wish you best for your future coding effords. May you bring them as much joy as you brought to us. :)

He wasn't really flamed, but then most of the comments didn't help him did they?

He probably feels annoyed cos of all the hours he put into his projects for other people - he was just looking for some help in return and he got "read the stickies".

It takes a lot more time and effort to make an app or a game than to answer a question.

the comments weren't rude, out of line or mean in any shape or form.

people pointed out we're not a zodiac board, that there is a very active one on another site and that he should try that.

people are saying as he is a dev we should have given him more time. this doesn't make sense, hardly anyone knew the answer to his question, the rest of us acting as helpfully as we could sent him to zodiacgamer, without flaming, belittling or being rude.

i personally think its pathetic to leave a community over something so stupid (which hes blown out of total proportion by himself) and so very very insignificant, he obviously couldn't depart quietly, thundering around stating we won't see any of his other projects.

does it all just boil down to bruised ego?

Wow, sorry to see ya go! Oh well you'll be recorded in gp32 history in the Nigelibrown interview, too bad it's only history. I'm sorry that you got flamed for asking about the Zodiac, but I hope you enjoy it if you decide to switch to it.
Have a Good Day!

Yeah, I remember all the hassel you had leading you to leave final burn. You did put up with a lot of crap. A good example of the worst that can happen. No one needs to be treated too differently, but a bit of respect and help is deserved.

I remember being into fruit machine emulation. and this guy makes a JPM emulator (THE most anticipated, and thought impossible emu - equivilent to perfect snes on GP32 - Or CPS2 on final burn). Then he has 100's (literally) of users slagging, bitching, flaming, every time he goes near the boards.

It was all deemed acceptable though because even though he made a great emu, "he's still a prick" and deserved to be treated like one. "being a prick" by the way, was a comment on the hostility and impatience of the community and questioning why he should bother releasing the new version of his emu.

This caused the community ring-leaders (one in particular), who had already had the emu passed around between them secretly, to release it to the public. Fucking up all chances of any future releases by the guy.

The community then fucked things up even more by biting the other hand that fed them: the blind-eyed fruit machine companies that happily cooporated with the scene. But thats another story.

I know this communities nowhere near that bad, but every cool scene in the past, always seems to die out this way. I really hope it doesn't happen again, especially with things being quite at the moment.
