Gbax2004 Results Are In.

Hm suprising. i didn't like NUMO anyway I guess I'm biased towards Gigadrive hehe Its the only one I was interested in

I haven't tried NUMO but atleast a GP32 program won right? WOAH! I justr ead after the winners section. It says that in a month they will have another contest that is the most improved entry. It can be any program EVER entered into GBAX! The prize is a GP32 BLU unit. I think that Pirotic should release a version of Gigas into that because he could win since a very old beta of Gigas was in one I think.

However this isn't the end this year, as we have a final surprise for you all. We still have a brand new GP32BLU console to give away, and this is how its going to work, were looking for the most improved previous competition entry one month from now (10th of June). Not just from this completion but from any of our previous ones. So better get that old source code back out and start fixing those bugs :)

I think we all know who has a high chance of winning that.

also opensnes9x that and gigadrive have a huge chance. I don't think rlyeh would stick fgen in.

All my congratulations to Arda/Ref and Madcat... Numo is my personal favourite, and I'm very happy it won the competition. Considering the fact it is their first work done with Mirko's SDK and the fact it's done FOR GBAX only (no offense, but I count original new entries higher than already established projects) in addition to the polished, commercial quality makes it the winner.

No offense, but how did a Porn/puzzle game beat out the excellent GigaDrive??

... erm, never mind. ;)

I LOVE NUMO!!!!

Its so addictive and fun, been playing it with my girlfriend all night cos it's just a good logical, unique puzzle game! (And before you ask I use the anime backgrounds)

I'm glad it won because its the one ive got most play out of!

Most improved program, you say? My liero game in the first 15 days was horrible *evil cackle*

;)

I also LOVE Numo.
And you don't have to use the Porn version. Just stick to the hamster version
(better music anyway. I was getting very nostalgic hearing that old Amiga Brat soundtrack again...)

indeed numo was the only winner for me. hopefully the author improves it and possibly releases the editor to win the blu......but i doubt it because i mailed the writer after i played it (well done etc etc) and he said that an update may not be out for another 3 months.

he said that an update may not be out for another 3 months.

no, I was talking about our next game. *shh*

edit: Thanks Don, I'm sure you can improve unimerc and win that BLU :) and yes, this was our *first* gp32 experience ever. But I must say that madcat is our genius here, he has professional knowledge about C. (yet I'm just an amateur).

And thanks to the jury, this was really a boost to create our next project. :) Big suprise.

If you see past the naked birds on Numo or play the non adult graphics its a very good game, its kept me occupied for longer than any other entry so I hoped when I judged the entries it would win. Its also the first time it has been released so its good to see a brand new homegrown game win.

Craig came up with the idea of kinda extending the competition for the most improved entry wins the Blu GP32. I like the idea of this competition as it gives a chance for some entries that wasnt quite finished at the original deadline to re-enter the competition with an improved version and maybe win a prize and also from previous competitions to get something updated out.

I have 2 questions. The first for the judges, and the second for everyone.

1) On the http://www.gbax.com/GBAX2004.html page, there is an area for comments by each entry. Are these comments just for people that might come along in the future to download the game? Or, are they meant as constructive critisism for the authors? I was wondering, because when I first read them (thinking that they were judge's critiques), I noticed that some had comments from all 3 judges and others only had 1. Some seemed lengthy and others hardly had any content. Then, I thought that perhaps they were just meant for the people that might be wondering which game to download. Anyway, it's probablly because I recently read the Tomak compo results (which I didn't enter) and their seemed more oriented toward the authors than the potential users.

2) Was it just me, or did others that are used to playing Lode Runner have problems with the controls of Crazy Jack? I thought it looked really cool, and the game was made really well, but when I actually played it I couldn't really like it because of the controls. I'm used to having a button for bomb left and another for bomb right. It seemed really frustrating to have to face a direction to place a bomb. I assume this is because I was already trained to play the game a certain way and now it's changed up. Anyway, I was surprised to see this at the top, but I think it's mostly because I discounted it so fast and wrote it off as frustrating. Now I feel like I need to go back and play it more. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience with this game, and also wondered if the author had any interest in making a "classic" control mode if there are others like me.

Thanks for another great competition, GBAX! Congratulations to all the winners!!!
