what contenent is australia in?

I hope you're kidding :D

If you're not, Australia IS a continent. And a damn fine one if I do say so :p
I have to say, I always thought Australia was part of Australasia, which contained it plus New Zealand and accompanying islands. I suppose that could just be a name for the whole lot, though, as opposed to a technical continent.

Q-Wi-Q: Australia, the continent, is part of Oceania, the region. Oceania (or Australasia, as it's also sometimes called) is the area of the South Pacific that contains Australia, New Zealand, and lots of other countries. So your map was correct, I just don't think you were reading it right :)

And I can definitely confirm that New Zealand does exist, because I live there!

We've gone off topic a bit, but have a look here:

enchantedlearning.com

Here's a quick quote:

"The continents are the great land masses of the earth. There are seven continent on Earth now: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America."

That concludes today's lesson :p

Some people do call the continent Australia or Australasia.

http://www.ri.net/schools/Central_Falls/v/218/t7con.html

According to this site New Zealand etc don't exist!
Must be from the cold war where NZ was planning to stay hidden whilst the rest of the world nuked each other then once the radiation died down move out and take over (all for the glory of the British empire of course)
