i was just wondering is the gp32 actually successful in korea, like is it just buy from internet or can you get on the high street.

I remember someone reporting that they'd bought 2 GP32s a long time ago in Korea in a high street store - 1 second hand, at £65 and the other at £90 new (a long way back into last year), so I imagine it must have been fairly successful. Or even, must be. No idea...

I had heard that it wasn't very successful, but then again, how do you define success?

A friend of mine is visiting the u.s. is from Korea and when he saw my gp the first thing he said was.... Whats that? so i cant imagine it would be very successful there.

It is true that there are more in the UK and also in france/spain (i think) than in Korea.

funny, I've never seen Korea as a major gaming community...

But aren't they the ones that die in internet cafés and stuff?

Korean handheld and cellphones etc are quite advanced. A cell phone you can buy for $750 has mp3, game, chat, camera ( digital camera quality), and more... Scary.... They are avid gamers so probably gp32 is somewhat popular. And teenagers in korea are mostly study freaks. they sleep 3 hours a day... Mebbe yur friend is not a game crazy person.

Also what I'm curious is what's the homebrewn scene like over there.
I've actually thought about this several times ane thought that, what if, there's like korean versions of websites like GP32X and GP32EMU, what if they also have coders working on emulators, what if they already achieved full speed with sound SNES + GENESIS and are working on GBA or something else?

Sounds almost like the N-Gage.

Then GPZigi (www.gpzigi.com) would say so.

Not much activity (homebrew or otherwise) going on there, apparently - k2yaa's GP32 Manager apps were the last big development; A&B Soft, Eternity, ICON, Byulbram and Windship all have works-in-progress (Wanna be Wizard, Goddess Saga, Daydreamin, Blood Cross, and Princess Brave respectively) though.

Korean gamers are hardcore. Yes, one did die in an internet cafe but that's just one person... Korea however does/did (not sure if it's on anymore) have TV shows of people playing starcraft etc (if you've ever played Koreans in starcraft, you'll know how ridiculously good they are).
