Using Mr. Spiv's MFW2, I successfully flashed the BIOS. I just wanted to thank everyone for their help and words of encouragment. I'm literally still shaking from the worry :D

Thank you all again for your support and assistance.

That is weird, as you were writing this I sprouted a pair and flashed TWICE!! First I flashed to MultiFW and then re-flashed to Aquafish FW. Of course I had the safety net of knowing that I have the schematic for a JTAG cable if something went wrong... :)

The process: Painless.

The worry about something going wrong: I may have some internal injuries, but I'll live

It rocks! When I boot up to Windups, it recognizes my version 1.0 with my custom BG and icons! I've tested PC link also; works perfectly. All my emus run fine, just as before. I'm wondering just how so many people managed to wreck their gp32_console doing this; it TRULY is easy; not at all the hell I was expecting.

It's super easy just make sure your batteries are fully charged ;)

I flashed with Mr.Spiv's Firmware the day I got my GP32 then Flashed it when the Beta Euro was released :D

I was a nervous wreck for the first few minutes thinking of doing it, but all in all it didn't cuase me to much stess. Just the voiding warrenty the day I got my beloved gp32_console

It's one of those urban myths that has perpetuated becasue of scaremongering stories. To be honest, if you have reasonably charge batteries and artn't a total and complet muppet or extremely unlucky, then it's very easy and I've reflashed several times with no probs.

I think it also depends on previous flashing experiences. I once had a nice DVD player which I flashed with a better almost compatible bios.
It now acts as a paperweight <_<

Seriously, Super Furry, don't be a scared pussy like I was.

It's really, REALLY² easy! You just run the .fxe like any other program/emu/app and it does the rest. Just use new batteries (or fully recharged) or an AC adapter and you're good to go.

I must admit, I'd be more inclined to use fully charged batteries than the mains adapter. That way, you cant knock the thing out by accident during the flashing.

Or what if u had a powercut, that would be the pinnacle of bad luck

N e way, whats so good about flashing, i quite like the original bios, there a little slow but are there many advantages to having othe bios

I'm not too trusting of flashing.

I flashed from out of the box firmware to Mr Spiv's Multifirmware. Although it's working fine in itself, my SMC managed to get corrupt in the process, and I swear to god Frodo is still working different.

Other than that it's sweet. :D

I don't know if I'll do it or not... am in two minds. Ideally, (and I don't know if this is possible, I'm quite ignorant..) I'd like to turn it on, have a background picture load up and a few icons.. these being PC Link, and an FXE/game directory..

is this possible? If so what would you guys reccomend? Ta

i'm still to chicken shit to flash it but hey, if it ain't broke...........
well..if your using the original firmware it might as well be broken. That firmware is sooo horrible once you start using another one. I know it might be hard to immagine but I would just flash it atleast once just to know the glory of an amazing firmware. I would recomend one of the multifirmwares to save you the pain of having to flash more to find one you like.

Of course after all this I assume you are going to tell me that you got a preflashed one. No worries I like feeling stupid. :)
