Hi, all my first post.

While I'm waiting for my GP32 BLU I've been doing some research. I'm getting mine mostly for emulating old games that I own (a sh!t load).

Couldn't a nice palm pilot do emulation? Some of those have nice displays already.

Thanks for the bandwidth.

OK, nobody complain about what I'm gonna say because he asked specifically about Palms...

zj_jeepster - not only can Palms do emulators, and not only are there some good ones already, but there's a terrific gaming oriented Palm called the Zodiac that would probably be right up your alley. There's a fantastic emulator being made for it right now called LJZ that emulates SNES, NES and GB/C all in one. Plus there's other emus for various systems as well, including a GBA emu called Firestorm that's being worked on. Plus the Zodiac can play all the Palm stuff, as well as its own specialized games including ports of Spyhunter, Tony Hawk and original titles as well. It's a new system, only 6 months old, but it's off to a good start.

If you want to know more about the Zodiac, stop by http://www.ZodiacGamer.com and take a look around. I wrote a review that gives you a good introduction to the hardware itself you might like to read. It's in the reviews section, but here's a direct link: Zodiac2 Review.

The formatting is little wacky, because the review was originally done for the old ZodiacGamer site (the new/current one is PHPNuke).

Basically if you like/use Palm PDA's, the Zodiac is sorta like what you'd get if a GP32 and a Palm had a baby. :p So it could be just what you're after.

But I personally like the GP32 a whole lot better because of the friendly small community (On a Zodiac board they would not even consider recomending you a GP32), that people that don't whine, complain and grumble all the time (On Zod. boards it's always people complaining that they want their emulator now) and not paying for emulators or homemade games. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the system I just don't like the community as much.

Hell, I love my gp but if you are looking for a gaming system with the functions of a palm..then hell go with a zodiac. I dont have enough loot for a zodiac and I like the scene here more. Maybe when I have so much money I dont know waht to do with it Ill buy one. until then Ill LOVE my gp32. This compo action is crazy latley. Im stoked about how much there is to do latley on my . gp32_console

http://www.palmemu.com to get a decent listing

And yes, we do recommend the GP32 on the Zodiac boards ;)

In genewral its like this..

GP32
-- really great community
-- they bitch about the Zodiac a lot

Zodiac
-- good community
-- they bitch about the Zodiac a lot

(The Zod community doesn't diss the GP32, but both commujnities trash the Zodiac which is to say the Zod community has a lot of whiners right now)

Both are great machines.

Tapwave Zodiac is only easy to get in USA, GP32 can be ordered to anywhere!
But both are good systems and will do good for homebrew and commercial (well maybe only the Zodiac for commercial) scene's, but please make me wrong and release more commercial gp32 games.

Wow,

Great responses guys. I already ordered a couple BLU units but was just curious as to the palm pilot aspect (I don't have one). Yeh, the Zodiac is REAL expensive.

One thing really nails the GP32 to my liking, the wireless gaming for multi players. I ordered two BLU's for my kids and maybe more if I want to get in on the action. BOMBERMAN with the whole family, yyyeeehhhh

I'm in the US, think gbax.com will work with the exchange rate if by shipping time the English pound is weaker (a little bit cheaper)? Hopefully not stronger.

There's an American GP32 site starting up with message board ( www.gp32us.com ). I'm thinking of joining. Hope it takes off.
