Most emulators support zipped roms. Read the readme file of each emulator to see if they do or not.
GP2X programs are zipped for distribution convenience, and must be extracted in order to be used. The GP2X executable usually has a .gpe or .gpu file extension.
read the readme's, or test it yourself... certain people on these boards may get annoyed if somebody asks "if X needs to be unzipped" for every app/emulator there is...
Generally, when you download an app, it is zipped. Unzipping this first level should give you access to the executable. If there are other zipped files in the package then you wouldn't normally need to unzip these. Many apps accept external data files (doom data, roms etc) in a zipped format, but not all. Check the readme...if there is no mention, spend 2mins testing to see!
