A Long time coming after the first game.. the open world aspect at least.
It looks fantastic so far though & apparently what's been shown at E3 is 1% of the final game. I'm feeling a bit unclever I traded my WiiU now, guess I'll just have to buy a Switch.

It's a full on effin' RPG!

Where to start.. the ability to climb more or less any surface as long as you have enough stamina, stealth, go anywhere from the outset (even straight to the end boss) food/clothing/stamina all now important based on location/task at hand, cooking/potion making, "the ability to jump" all gear/weapons degrade and can be repaired, paragliding, the ability to summon your horse anywhere by whistling (someone call CD Projekt!) timed combat dodges initiate slo-mo (same using bow whilst jumping) well timed counters will sometimes disarm enemies who will then use any attack they can incl digging for/throwing rocks which can be knocked back if timed right, any weapon in arsenal can be thrown at an enemy, arrows can be picked up if they miss, any tree can be cut down with certain weapons (bridges can be made this way) Link can shield surf and attack enemies whilst doing it if bow is pulled out, no hearts/rupees by chopping grass anymore (aww/hurrah?)
I dare say what's been shown is as little as possible but Phew! that's some changes to get your head around and we haven't seen any of the towns, dungeons, special items, other characters or bosses yet.

Can't believe there's any here that haven't seen it yet, but just in case..

What do you guys make of what's been shown so far?

A Digital Foundry tech analysis..

Thanks, I'd not seen that vid before.

I'm disappointed that it doesn't look as good as reveals did previously, but I like the addition of proper RPG like elements. What I've seen so far doesn't really feel Zelda yet, but I'm sure more will be revealed soon.

I'm a huge Nintendo fan and even bigger Zelda fan, so I eagerly awaited further video and info about the new Zelda. And I wasn't disappointed! The world looks absolutely gorgeous; I can't wait to just run around in it, however it does appear to be very empty.

I really loved wandering around in The Witcher III and that always seemed so full of life, from rabbits to bears to deer and goats and everything in-between; all just living in that world. Hyrule here looks equally as impressive, but somewhat devoid of living things and that's a shame.

I really am looking forward to having a proper hands on though and delving into the shrines and dungeons that were hinted at. And knocking the stuffing out of Moblin type monsters will always be fun!

Can't wait!

Yeah, my only concern at this point is the world feeling barren/having enough interesting stuff to do (collect!) that doesn't get old too quickly.

As long as no one tries to shoehorn where it fits on "The Timeline" I'll be happy.

Hmm, I'm actually a bit disappointed.
I mean, yeah, it's awesome that you can run around everywhere, climb wherever you want, etc.

But I've watched a few presentations... and basically, they run around 45 minutes while absolutely nothing happens.
Yeah, you can climb here, fly there, etc.

I find that fascinating, but for me, it gets boring pretty fast.

I'm currently playing Tales of Zestiria and already find it annoying that I'm often running around 10 - 15 minutes just to get from one place to another one...

For me, Twilight Princess was one of the best Zeldas out there. Perfect world size (not too big, not too small), interesting dungeons and items, etc.

I'm not sure... I certainly don't like Open World games, but if at least something happens in the game and you can warp quickly and don't simply have to run around for 20 minutes just to get somewhere, then it might turn out good.

So I'll wait for it... but I'm afraid that game is not for me.

I'm hoping that the demo was just a cut down version/playground of what to expect in the full game , as it definitely has to have more quests and things to do; pretty much like Witcher III. In that game you can spend all day roaming if you want to, but there are always quests, sub-quests and side-lines in need of attention. My hope is that quests of any sort were omitted so as not to ruin the story or even the sub-quests themselves once the game comes out.

There has been talk of towns etc. - the demos and presentations did not allow players to access or even see these or any interactive NCPs (except for the old man) for the reason above.

It looks cool and my son has a Wii U, so I'll guess we'll get it at some point, but I won't be running out to get it at launch. The Zelda games are probably where I've gotten the most enjoyment from "N" over the years, but they can often be a mixed bag.

Some games in the series do certain things well, while others don't. They have put a lot of time and effort in to this game, but so far I'm not seeing nothing that can't be had elsewhere, and probably better. Sadly, "N" just no longer grabs me at first glance like they once did. I'm sure this will be one of their better games in ages, but considering the time it is taking, and how I expect not much else for the NX at launch, I don't really see this game as the savior they are hoping it to be.

I don't play Smash Bros, and while I love the Galaxy games, their standard 2D Mario games are just old and tired. I'm also not a fan Mario Kart. They just don't have much that interest me anymore. I'm really hoping Zelda will be great, but it's still only one game. There was a Wii U question on Gamefaqs the other day asking users what their favorite Wii U game was, and I went with Toad Treasure Tracker. I found that game to be unique, and rather fun, and it wasn't the same old game over and over again.

Normally a game like this would be a day one purchase for me, but I can't member the last "N" game I bought at launch, so unless I see something tremendous between now and launch, I'll be waiting on this as well.

The last Nintendo game I bought was Metroid 2. That was to replace my lost copy from way back.

I am pretty interested in Breath of the Wild. I enjoy exploring, or just running around and looking at things, in games. (Who needs goals?) I probably wouldn't get it for myself, however since there is a Zelda fan here I get to try it out too.

I enjoyed Twilight Princess thoroughly and would happily play it again likewise with Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask. I would say the videos were made as a demonstration not to ruin the main story :)

They likely have/are working on various assets to add to the game later, so I'm not worried about the world feeling "dead" right now.

Game looks fire. Might buy it. Not before Monster Hunter and Pokemon though.

In my opinion Nintendo finally made their way out of the misery.

They finally made the step necessary into today's gaming world.
It finally does not feel like the same they have done all the time but still keeping what is the sore of the series.

Now all they have to do is to remember the Games of the Gamecube area and make a real:
1: Paper Mario!!!! (Without hundreds of characterless toads to collect)
2: 3D Mario like Sunshine
3: F-Zero
4: Metroid
5: Star-Fox
6: Something cool like Hyrule Warriors or Splatoon or Xenoblade or Bayonetta

After seeing the new Zelda I finally have faith again that Nintendo finally got it and will adopt to today's rules. (No it's not making a baby easy 2D Mario Game again!)

Well, I hope their quests will not just be "Kill that monster in this area" or "Collect 300 tingleberries" or whatever. And I hope it's not an overkill of stuff...
I heard they have a lot of small challenge dungeons that will upgrade your possibilities, but I hope those won't be hundreds of them, as most games get boring for me after 40 - 50 hours of gameplay....

I'm sceptical, but hope I'll like it as well.

Does look good, I do like open Worlds, but like the GTA one, where there is plenty to do, so I too hope there is lots to be done and not too many long traveling voids between activities.
...I do want a new 2D Mario though, love 2D Mario games, so hoping for one of them on the NX so I can buy that :)

Honestly after the WiiU I'm doubtful I'll get another Nintendo console. We'll have to see how the NX shakes up, but for now I'm pretty underwhelmed.

I love LOVE my Wii. It was probably my favourite console ever. Modded with homebrew it was my home media center for like 8 years, had great features and functionality. Really felt like a realized and self contained product. Everyone hated motion controls, but I thought point and click with the wiimote was actually pretty great and I really enjoyed it. The channels that provided ancillary functionality (now useless) were great too. The WiiU felt like a vehicle to drive their online sales. I tried to get into some big titles like Mario 3d World and Pikmin etc but I don't know it never really gripped me like the Wii did. Maybe it's just that I'm in a different place in my life now.

But the WiiU was largely a let down. The gamepad never really managed to figure out what it was for or why. It was a solution in search of a problem, IMO.

Its sad because I've always really enjoyed Nintendos hardware, but I'm a little salty now.
