Has anyone got a working 128MB SMC left for a GP32? I gave mine to my brother years ago and he appearently has lost it.

Maybe someone has a card available for you, I don't, sorry.

But looks like this shop is still selling them for a reasonable price, most stores don't have them in stock:

You can also find them on ebay, but those are more expensive it appears.

Aaaaand that shop is down.
There's cards available on eBay these days which have an OKish price and are apparently brand new

Have you seen anyone try an converter before?
Apparently they exist but I only found one site selling them (~€5): https://www.thatsit.nl/oem-xd2sm-xd-to-smartmedia-card-adapter.html
And those only support cards up to 256MB, so you still need legacy cards like these 128MB ones (~€24) https://nl.farnell.com/transcend/ts128msdc220i/sd-card-128mb-2-7-3-6v-mlc-nand/dp/4661264
Which is still cheaper compared to an €35 SMD, if that combination at least works.

And a listing for a batch of 128MB MMC's: https://www.ebay.com/itm/266283708663

I actually have an XD-to-SMC converter and a 128MB XD card, but that card is also broken :D
IIRC I bought the adapter from ebay or something. It's totally terrible to search for them because you get lots of results for sd cards and crap.

Btw, the 128MB limit seems to be hard-coded into the SMFS lib.
There are card ID constants for the different sized cards. I'm not sure why, though.
Some arm assembly patcheridoo should enable fully using 256MB cards for programs using the official SDK/BIOS functions.
Some more elbow grease would allow other programs to also take advantage of the bigger sizes but oh well.

ALSO your link seems to be to an sd card which is NOT an XD card fitting that adapter.
There are SMC-to-SD or XD-to-SD adapters out there, but these require software modifications to work and are intended not as drop-in replacements for SMC/XD but only for specific Olympus digital cameras which support them (and maybe the GP32 in the future with some hacketry).

Like this one:

These adapters are cheeeeeeeap (but of course, they don't work without software support and might use incompatible pins).
Making a more compact SMC-to-SD adapter wouldn't be too hard or expensive either with a custom PCB. It's just the software support which is missing currently.
Post automatically merged:

Link to the new SMC cards:

I have ordered one, but haven't tried it yet. It might be broken for all I know, so beware

Apparently it's for an XD Image-card, which isn't the same as an SD/MMC card format: https://www.amazon.nl/-/en/Fujifilm-128MB-xD-Picture-Card/dp/B00006S4EW
Those aren't really cheaper compared to the SMD. As you mentioned, searching for SD/MCC2SMC is horrible as you'll find everything else (like SD-cards) first.
