Word Crimes

Any particular reason to post that here, apart from it being a nicely written and produced video?

people really should need 2 use better gramer?

It wasn't meant as a board-specific critic, I just think it needs to be spread so people like me don't have problems learning the correct English grammar and keeping it intact.
For some reason, especially native English speakers tend to write so weird in the web, that it is hard to keep track of what would be correct.

Klumpen: Copy the embedded iframe code from youtube in the answer text field, but with Javascript deactivated. In that case the html source mode is activated. ;)
Like this:

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately, I can't edit anything here when Javascript is disabled. oO

Yupp, Weird Al did it again, I like this song and it can tell some interesting things about (english) language and grammar. :)

...That "be", "see", "are", "you"
Are words, not letters
Get it together
Use your spellchecker
You should never
Write words using numbers
Unless you're seven
Or your name is Prince...

Or you know you could just embed it properly, instead of messing with nasty code that results in a video frame which is far too big for my screen.  (use Insert other media -> Insert image from URL)

/me waits for this thread to get merged with "what are you listening to?" or whatever the other one is called.

The difference: People are actually talking about the stuff Klumpen posted. So it is good, that he posted it here and not in the music trash thread. ;)

Hey, now.  People like different music.  Most people wouldn't consider some of what I listen to music at all (actually, they have used many names for it), but no need to be nasty about it.

The reason this belongs here is for the reason that was given later.  I agree to some degree, and have tried to help people with their English many times in the past.  The point where I disagree is that learning how people talk/write/communicate is more important than doing things "properly".  If you were speaking to me what I would say would probably be extremely different than how I type here, with many regional terms and pronunciations, a lot of one particular 4 letter word, more run ons than I type, and tons of quotes, obscure references, etc. that might be totally missed by someone without similar cultural knowledge.  I don't think it would be quite as bad as this episode of TNG, but it might be to some out there:

I have issues understanding some native English speakers, as do they with me, even from within my own country.  Accents can also get in the way.  I know a guy whose accent led to his mother having problems when trying to visit him, since the airlines couldn't give her a ticket to the nonexistant city she thought he told her to fly into.  Some people in areas near me have accents that even people from the cities here can't understand.  It probably doesn't help that they throw even more strange terms and phrases in that others may not be familiar with.

This was not my point. Some music in the music thread may be good. I posted there myself once, so at least on song is great. :p My point is, that the whole thread is a sink (in graph theory).

It works for me.   What happened when you tried it?
Did you use the same address you posted above?  it could just be that you need to use the address of the normal  YouTube page, rather than the address of the embedded player. (in this case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Gv0H-vPoDc )

Yes, I used the address above and it doesn't matter if I use http or https.
This is what happens:
8Gv0H-vPoDc

(The whole kaboodle before the youtube ID gets deleted automatically, wtf?)

Funny how everything in this thread so far seems to be in some way on topic, yet there are at least 3 different things being discussed.

I suppose I should watch the video eventually.  I used to always seek out new stuff from Weird Al after he released it (and usually liked it more than the songs that inspired it).

NE way, it wiL hav 2 wait, I don't hav tym rght nw

You know I'm beginning to hate this forum software with a passion...

Me too.  I have had issues a few times today while trying to reply and not getting the text box.
