Just wondering if anyone can give me a link for a decent wonderswan website. Ive never really thoguht about purchasing one as no-one who ive ever spoke to has had a rave review of it. Are there any decent games out for the system, and are tehre any emulators for the 32 that are any good? Not trying to be a cheapskate ehre, i simply dont want to buy a reasonably expensive console for just one or two games  .

Wonderswan was an attempt at the handheld market in Japan by Bandai. It was a flop for the most part. The only good thing about it was that it had some Final Fantasy games on it. I would suggest you look it up on lik-sang.com and checking to see if they have links for it on there.

I have played around with it a little bit and it seems like a somewhat decent console. It was made by bandi and has since been discontinued. I found most of the games for it to be unplayable due to the fact that I am english speaking and most of the games are not in english. There were some pretty nice games for it though. Just off the top of my head I would have to say that mr, driller, final fantasy one and two, and guilty gear would be my top picks. The ff games have english patches too which makes them playable. There is an emulator for it on the gp32 which is slow and has no sound and the viewable screen size is really small. However the author of little john is working on a new one which last I had heard was already surpassing the ws emulator which is already out. This was a few weeks ago so I'm sure its even better now.

wooooww, Beatmania?!?.......And thats about it from what i can see? Can anyone tell me where english patches are avaiable from, or would i be better of just playing final fantasy for the nes?

Actually, the WS version of beatmania is arcade perfect, audibly. Of course, it's black and white, has a worse button layout, and is a conversion of beatmania 3rd MIX which came out what...late 1997, early 1998?, so that doesn't say much. Still, it is a lot better than the GBC ones! Sort of.

Capcom made quite a few games for it too, such as Pocket Fighter and a Megaman game (which isn't very good), and a remake of MakaiMura (Ghosts 'n' Goblins), all 3 of which are B&W. Taito made a sequel to Rainbow Islands called Putty's Party, which is essentially Rainbow Islands hacked to hell. I think you start on Doh Island or something stupid. It's also B&W. The Final Fantasy games on it are pretty hard to get these days, due to squaresoft fanboys going nuts. They are around though, and I think maybe even play-asia has them. FF1 and FF2 are translated, as was said. FF4 is on WSC also but it isn't translated - shame, because it's visually a lot better than the SNES version (!). Other than these games and what was already mentioned, there's little else recognisable.

Oh, and if I recall correctly, it is still being produced - but the only way you can get them now is direct through Bandai itself. They certainly aren't low on stock in HK at any rate. They are pretty much exclusively a collectors item now. If you're really in the market for another oddball portable console, my recommendation would be a NGPC if you're not in particular a squaresoft fanboy, and by that I mean you don't mind playing games in Japanese (unless you buy a flasher+cart, in which case you can flash the english translations). After that, maybe a Nomad or a Game Axe.

Oh, and I'm not sure about websites on them. If you're after reviews of the FF games, try a RPG site of some sort. Or just play the PSX FF Origins - it's essentially identical.

No, I don't own one B)
