Window Managers/desktop Environments?

You could probably pull quite a few from the Angstrom repo, without having to build them yourself, too :)

Any word on what windowmanagers/Desktop Environments there are floating around? I don't actually own nor have I gathered the necessary funds to purchase a pandora yet.

what about gnome? would that work on pandora

I've got Gnome working on the Beagleboard on Angstrom, so It's possible to get running. It's just a tad bit heavier than the desktop environments used by default on the Pandora. So I'd be a little worried it would cut into game performance if used.

would it be possible to have both kde and gnome in the OS so you can pick which one you want like you can in Ubuntu?

Gnome just isn't fun to use to me. KDE used to be, back in the days of KDE 3.5 I was quite happy with it. Then they made 4.0 and I was excited. I used it for a while, and then got sick and tired of the bloat. I went to my friend ratpoison, which I used for a while. Finding that it was totally inappropriate for The GIMP, I switched to LXDE. That was a very nice one, but something about it just didn't feel right. I decided to try Fluxbox, and was very happy with it. That is, until I found out how buggy it was. It lets you resize a window into its own titlebar, causing it to have negative size; this could be as small as making the program crash, or it could even make the whole X server crash if you do it to something like XTerm. Remembering that LXDE was just Openbox with some extra programs on top of it, I decided I'd give Openbox a try next. I've never looked back. I'd really like to see Openbox on the Pandora, and I'm sure it shouldn't be too much trouble to make it work.

I think gnome or KDE would be a bit too heavy for the pandora. Unless of course you plan on using it only as a desktop - But even then it seems to be a waste of resources.

I've heard a lot of good things about openbox, I think I'll give it a try on my netbook.

Since LXDE is basically just Openbox with a panel, what do you mean by it not feeling right, if Openbox does?

Personally, I'm using LXDE configured to a Gnome style layout with xfdesktop (from XFCE) for icons. :p

Never liked KDE though, too much visual noise and disorder.
