Who Did I Meet In Hamburg On Saturday Night?

After two years living in Germany I can honestly say it is a great place! I never want to live in Blighty again!!!

But anyway, who was it?

Danke nochmal!

Das Forum. And I don't think anyone would laugh at you, your German is pretty good. You're always welcome at cncforen.de, I can assure you that nobody will make fun of you there ;)

Vollgasasi: Everybody is trying to be PC here, but catch them uninhibited and they tell you how much they hate those stupid turkish neighbours and their stupid language and why do they need to talk so loud all the time? And so on.... but then again, "real" racism, meaning actually wishing foreigners harm, is very rare, I give you that...

Naah, don't think anybody will laugh.
We have one from Netherlands there who posts every now and then, and his German is worse than yours :)
They just need to realize one time you're no native speaker and that's it.

And you might have a bigger chance finding the person there, I guess ;)

where do you live? eastern germany? here in the western part it's not that bad i think. my best friend is polish and we have lots of polish, turkish, russian, french and netherlandish people here (that's not the right word in english for them?! o_O) in fact i live in saarburg which has 6k inhabitants - 2k being french, saarburg was the first town to have relationships with france after the second ww, many people from the netherlands (they are spending their holidays here... all year :p, and well many people from eastern europe and except for jokes i make about polish people (of course only when my best polish friend is with me xD i don't have anything against foreigners. ... but that could just be me :) i think we should get back on topic soon ... ahem :) i just started this offtopic discussion because i'm tired of being told i was a nazi ;)

For any people thinking I was talking about how Germans are racists, I wasn't.
No, seriously, I didn't mean anything like that, I hate all the prejuctions about modern Germany and WWII

I'm no racist either, but I've had enough problems with Marocans already. Like you have the Turkeys (so I've heard from some German friends), we have Marocans. Can't stand 'm at all anymore after living 15 year in their midst... (in Antwerp, a once beautiful city)

@Vollgasasi: The correct word for netherlandish = dutch. :)

Yup, that's very important.
I'm living in Chile right now, and my spanish is rather mediocre, so it's important for me to speak with a strong german accent, or else everybody thinks i'm retarded or, even worse, an american...
You don't want anyone here to believe you're from the USA, especially if you just ordered a fanta in a restaurant

Thanks for the kind words, guys! And I know what you mean about the accent thing. I kow I make so many mistakes, but my Job is about actually speaking and singing in German, so I have had ours of training on sounding like a German speaker. I know I can pick pthe phone, speak to some bloke from T-Com, ask a question in pretty much perfect German and have hardly any accent. Then they jabber back in some weird Bayern Accent, and my next sentence is "Sorry, I am learg German, can you speak really slowly for me please?". They don't get it...

But who did I meet, I will go to the German FOrums and ask there. Sorry, but I'm really curious. It was like two worlds colliding!
