Thought would be nice to get a list of places where you can go and enjoy some arcades, seeing as your classic arcade hall pretty much faded out [at least round here anyway] but has seen a bit of a revival lately.

Seems the ones I see cropping up are more free-to-play cabinets, alongside retro consoles, where you pay a flat fee to gain access for the entire day and game on.

I like this idea, and have found a few which are fairly local to me.

Feel free to add links to any you visit in your town, which might also be someone else's local who wasn't even aware of it.

Thought of this as I was also reading today in news about this one in Oregon which looked good, but far from me. So if you around there, perhaps check it out

Chuck E.Cheese's and other such places for the rugrats, Dave and Buster's for adults. Both are chains, and I haven't been to either in about 12 years. There are other places that are independently owned, but I can't remember the names of the ones I have been to, many of which are not in the area where I currently live, and may be out of business now.

this is a decent pinball town...

Seattle Pinball Museum:

Shorty's:

Add-A-Ball / John John's Game Room (what is up with their terrible website? they also have coin-op arcade machines):

Full Tilt (pinball, coin-op arcade machines and ice cream chain)

in Tacoma (an hour south of here) there's Dorky's and in summer, the Northwest Pinball/Arcade Expo

and in Portland OR (four-five hours south), Ground Kontrol, among others

Best arcade in Paris (most games 0.5€ per credit) is Arcade Street close to Nation:

Honorable mention to Extra Life Café. This place is a Café at street level. The interesting part is underground, you pay per hour and have access to a few arcades, retro consoles (real ones, not emulation), and a manga collection:

If you like DDR, Arcade Street has a DDR machine and Extra Life has an ITG machine. In both places depending on the time you go you can witness some excellent level from passionate gamers/dancers.

I just arrived in Helsinki and was told about http://www.sugoi.fi/ but haven't had the time to go experience it yet.

+1 For arcade club great selection of classic arcade games and pinball as well as quite a few consoles. £10 entry all machines on free play.

Last I heard they were sorting out a license for the place. Have they got it sorted yet? i don't think I can play many of those games without being at least a couple of pints down the wind.

wow... painting in 3d... looks nice...

Off to Arcade Club in Bury tonight, 2 floors of retro goodness.

My local arcade had all clear out recently, apparently several skips full of cabinets, I missed the opportunity to bag an original R-type, gutted.

I wish there were any arcades in Germany but sadly that has never really been the case (due to stupid laws). If anyone knows of a place where I can get my arcade-freak on, please do tell!

Since the CRT of my cab has gone the way of the dodo I am in a desperate situation... MAME is just not the same thing.

EDIT: Actually this sparked my interest again, so I googled for arcades in Germany. There is one project that I had totally forgotten which is called GameOn and is an initiative to found an e-sports center and arcade in Berlin. The website doesn't really show progress since last year. I know there are several members on here living in Berlin (looking at you @Klumpen), has anyone been there? Apparently they already do weekly meetups eventhough they haven't opened officially...

rant: I can't believe German lawmakers thought it necessary to protect children from playing innocent video games for a few bucks, while gambling for money is still legal and adults can still gamble away their money in hopes of some financial gain which will never be achieved. And I am not talking about proper casinos, I am talking about those shitty video-poker hellholes and betting offices that our cities are littered with. I am living in a very poor area and there are more betting offices than I can count. Seriously, there is like 15 of these fucking things in walking distance. How many gambling addicts do we need? What the hell is up with that?

Heh, I'm guessing not many Germans are going to see 'Kraut Buster' on Neo-Geo boards ;)
yes... since we Germans identify so much with our Nazi past, we can't stand anyone making fun of Krauts or depicting violence against Nazis, which is why all references in movies and video games have to be replaced by pink bunnies before release here. Like in the great game wolfenbunny 3d and call of bunny. also the movies indiana jones and the last bunny aswell as inglorious bastbunnies.

@levi you do know that NG Dev is based in Germany right?

Irony and stupid remarks aside: NeoGeo games are very easy to get here, there is a huge market for MVS games. But I have never ever seen a German NeoGeo cab in the wild while french and spanish camping resorts were littered with big reds. It's sad :(

Being on holiday was the only time I was able to get my hands on any kind of arcade game when I was a kid.
