With Little John GP32 v0.22 due real soon and NesterGP v1.3 coming within the next week or so, I would like to know a list of the NES games you would recommend I should play, so I'll have a bundle of handheld fun at the ready for when the next emulator public release is out (specifically Little John, seeing the loadstate bug and full speed emulation are probably fixed up for the next release :))

I know a bundle of games I love playing on it, but too much to list, yet there's probably dozens I've missed out on that you all know of, so please give me recommendations! :D

Hmm.. is recommendations a word? An awful big one at that..

Thats all I ever play on the NES emulator and I'm quite content.

once i've completed Mario Bros 3 i'll begin to move on to other classics (but until then, this is all i need!)

Super Mario Series (if we want to be obvious! :D)
Solar Jetman
Little Nemo the Dream Master
Maniac Mansion
Startropics 1&2
Boy and his Blob
Contra
Earthbound 0
Kirby's Adventure
The Legend of Zelda
Mega Man Series
Metal Storm
Metroid
Super Spike V'Ball (better for 2 players)

And of course... Somari. :D

Anyways, those are some of my favorites.

ive been playing california games because i remember in the old times me and my family playing it all together

bit of a rubbish game though

If you like arcade shooting type games then I recommend 1943 and Galaga. Elite on the NES is also good but probably hard to get into if you were not into Elite at the time. Other than that, I would recommend Super Mario Bros and Metroid.

Super mario 3, kirby, tetris 2 are the ones i play most
I find puzzle games such as Tetris, Columns, Dr Mario, etc unplayable on the GP32 because of the joystick thing (in all the emulators, not just the NES ones). I think these games need a d-pad as with the joystick I find I accidentally press down sometimes which is a bit of a pain in these games. The GP32 seems better suited for shooting games to me.

I always like Contra, Super-C, Paperboy and Ninja Gaiden. Many more, and most of the ones mentioned too. Oddly I also find myself playing California Games alot too.

I highly recommend Punch Out, it works great on the Little John emulator (though you can only save after a round is completed), I have been playing it much lately and it's really fun. In fact I just beat Soda today, so I am happy. I dare anyone else to beat him :)

GUNSMOKE! There´s not much that beat the pure fun in that game.

FF3 is cool and the Castlevanias.

Currently enjoying

Rainbow islands.
Rampart
Super mario 3
Castlevania 2
Arkanoid 2
Kid icarus
Ice climber
Donky kong
Donkley Kong 3
Dig dug
Final Fantasy 3

I also must say that Little John is great (it is the only one I have tried though...)

my favorite nes games (at least those i can remember :))

megaman 1-6 (megaman 2 is my fav)
turtles 1-3 (2+3 are great 2-player arcade games)
double dragon II (great in single, even better in 2-player)
metroid (!)
probotector(cyborgs)/contra(humans)
blaster master
mario 1-3
castlevania 1-3
ice climber
kickle cubicle
kid icarus
kirby
paperboy
world cup (funny 2-4 player)
zelda 1/2

games i'd rather play on another platform
california games 1/2
maniac manson
skate or die
ski or die
elite

Has anyone tried Excitebike or Gauntlet on these two NES emulators? I tried them on the fNES beta a while back and neither ran. I spent a lot of my youth playing those.

Other than that, I think everyone should have Super Mario Brothers I and III, Dr. Mario, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, RC Pro Am, Skate or Die, Spy Hunter, Tecmo Super Bowl, and Tetris.

I should get off my ass and test some of these with Little John.
