Namco nearly beat Sammy to them, pity they didnt that would have been amazing.

Actually namco gave up on them. Sega had to give them a response to their terms by a certain date and sega let it lapse so they were hanging by a thread until Sammy came a long.

As for the Microsoft idea it wouldn't likely happen unless Microsft had bought a huge chunk of sega, they have a very extreme way of doing buisness, so they either dont care about you or they want to own you in regards to 3d party companies. Also concidering the DC was partly a Microsoft product (developed to use a custom version of WinCE if I recall) they probably arnt to quick to work with them again especially since sega has yet to create a system seller for them.

In other words they don't have enough confidence in Sega to back a hardware product like that.

The dreamcast had something to do with WinCE, but if I recall correctly, had nothing to do with Microsoft directly other than compatability with something. I've never heard of the Dreamcast using anything WinCE related in anything it ever released. I am about 90% confident this was the case and the Dreamcast was not intended to make Microsoft money directly by selling systems or Dreamcast software.

Out of my complete DC collection I think I only own one which uses WinCE and thats nightmare creatures 2, and it sucks.

Here's an idea.. why not just buy the handheld that you can make out of the dreamcast seen before on another site.. why would sega waste their time doing this if its already been done and still being done?

Someone else making a DC portable dosent mean they make money off it. The systems out there are already sold, no money goes back to them at all.

I heard sometime ago that sega was gonna do a handheld with a hardrive (like ipod) this is probably whats gonna happen.

Okay guys seriously TGS is just about over and there is NO sign of any new console coming from Sega. It's not happening The only hardware news in the last month has been that sega passed over the new xbox board for PC hardware for their next generation of arcade machine.

Here's a list of every news article on gamespot about sega in the last 2 weeks:
